Have you made a complete install? I believe 99% of mods require that.

rtt doesn't need a complete install.

about the error I think there was some problem during the setup.

try to run it again or download it again.

Did anyone else report this bug/error? I'm getting it also. Here is my install procedure:

- install BG:SoA, full
- install BG:ToB, full
- install extras CD

- started SoA game, listened to Irenicus, listened to Imoen
- after the auto save, I did a quicksave also
- exited the game

- installed RtT
- installed RtT patch 131

When I run the RtT batch icon, I get that error listed above. I reinstalled RtT and the patch, same error.

I have a (very) new Dell XPS, decked out. Win XP all patches and SPs. I have not loaded BG on this machine before.

Any suggestions?

hi python,

your procedure is correct. probably the gulty is winxp. try do to these:

- ignore rtt.bat and run bgmain.exe

- ehm... I know it could sound ridicolous but try to install soa again with the reccomended installation.

I use WinXP-SPII without too much trouble. However, I always directly run the bgmain.exe given that I'm working on multiple installations.
Try to multitask less - taskmanager gives me some troubles with the multi classes, EG.

Thanks... but that didn't work. BGMain seems to be broken... no icon. Same error as the batch when I click BGMain in the RtT folder.

I'm re-downloading RtT from a different mirror. I hate to reinstall BG. 5 long discs. But I will if the second RtT doesn't work.

No dice. Different RtT file, same broken bat and BGMain files.

Bummer.

I found the problem... noone read the setup instruction!? :)

that error "an assertion failed in chdimm.... :unable to open biff:data\hdgmosc.bif" happens if you install rtt in an empty folder. you have to select the folder where bg2 is installed (for example D:\BG II - SoA) and not the suggested setup folder (C:\Return To Trademeet)

now I think it works, isn't it?

What do you mean broken and no icon?

Actually, I skimmed through the txt files and some info here before installation. But let me get this straight... it DEFAULTS to its own folder, but you don't want to install it there?

That's a bit bizarro. But hey, whatever... I'll fix it when I get home and report back.

Thanks!

S !

ps - by "broken" I meant that the file BGMain was using a default windows icon instead of a BG icon. Typically happens when a shrotcut is broken.

That is how it should look, actually :)
The shortcut on your desktop points to baldur.exe, which holds the icon, while bgmain is invoked by baldur.exe and doesn't have any icon per se.

Yeah, installing it in the BG directory? Money.

Thanks!
