edit: (whoops! would help if I said I am working with BG2:TOB wouldn't it?)

Hello all, I am making a few new spells for my zillionth time through the game to spice things up.  All is going well except for one very frustrating thing - adding sounds at the completion of the cast.  I am using IEEP, so creating the spell is relatively simple.  The problem is that when I try to extract and listen to any of the sound fx files (obviously to see if they will fit my custom spell) I am hit with an error message from whatever player I try to open it with.  The acm2wav application does not work because these bizzare sorts of wavs are not acms either.

SO... if either someone could tell me how to listen to these wavs, or direct me to an index of these files that gives details about what they are for (i.e. - what spell sound effect, when applicable) I would be grateful beyond words.  OK I'm being dramatic, but I would REALLY be happy!

~ Eric

final edit:  :w00t:  Well I found a solution before anyone had a chance to reply - I just extracted copies of the spell files with winbiff, threw them in a folder, and checked which sound files they each used using IEEP's spell maker - so now it is as easy as copy and pasting the sound file names into my own custom spells.  I can't believe I didn't figure this out earlier.  I would delete my post, but I am hoping this will help out some other new folk (or am I the only one this slow?).

Easy solution: use DLTCEP instead.
There you can browse from all the available soundclips for your spells, you cannot miss it.

 oh my god

thanks for the info, this will certainly make things easier - I will tell you something though, because this is the internet and nobody knows me. I spent hours this morning going through the spells, and writing the sound file names down. Then I loaded all the spells linked to the sound files onto a character with SK, went into bg2, cast the spells, and wrote a description of the sound to link to the matching data file name. Then I typed it all out on in a .doc file for future use.

I'm such a dork
