Haer'Dalis and several Mod NPC's are Tieflings.... but why can't the PC be one himself/herself? And I don't mean through means such as Shadowkeeper. Maybe it's because of the whole Bhaal thing... but then again, Tieflings are abyssal, as is Bhaal. And apparently it's very possible for planar creatures to visit the Prime, so why couldn't Bhaal have impregnated <CHARNAME>'s mother?

I don't know, my knowledge of AD&D is limited. I'm just suggesting Tieflings as a playable race. I don't know if it's possible to add new races, though.

Yes, I am aware of the Subrace Mod, but that's not what I mean.

I don't know what governs the start selection screen. It is, however, possible to make a mod that changes the player's race at the start of the game, so effectively you choose a tiefling char. It should be pointed out that Tiefling is the only other race which can appear on the Character Screen, because of Haer'Dalis.

I do not believe the PC should be able to be a tiefling.

A tiefling has less than half Evil Outsider (Demon/Devil/Rakshasa/other Evil Outsider/deity) ancestry.

The PC has half Bhaal's (not Abyssal, Bhaal was LE and lived in Gehenna) blood. Therefore any PC could probably be considered to be some kind of cambion, like a half-fiend. I don't think your mother being a tiefling would make any appreciable difference to your abilities. You're special enough already.
