problems with imoen

hey,all

lately I've run into a bit of a snag with the romance. I waited until I had at least three romance dialogues before running off to spellhold to rescue Imoen. Once there, they had the conversation about how Imoen wouldn't steal Chloe away from the PC. When I got to the underdark, I tried having my character talk directly to Chloe. When this happens, Chloe and Imoen initiate the "poem" lovetalk immediately. If I don't do anything, the previous romance doesn't progress. Anything I can change in Shadowkeeper to fix this?

Oh, also, when I get to the Elven City and collect the artifacts, there's no trigger to put them on the statue. Not sure whether this is Chloe-related or not, but I figured I'd mention it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because the mod is great otherwise.

That's strange... if you forcetalked Chloe and she had a conversation with Imoen instead, especially a lovetalk, that means she was trying to talk to the PC but one or more of the conditions weren't being met. Most often the culprits are the PC running around invisible/hiding a lot, or shapeshifted into animal form. It could also be that some other mod introduced a variable that confused the Chloe mod. If Chloe started a lovetalk with Chloe, then that would suggest that somehow the Chloe-PC romance variable got changed to 3 or 0. If you had already entered the romance portion of the talks, then the only thing I can think of that could have ended the romance is if you responded with a romance killing reply... but you would have had to do that BEFORE you rescued Imoen because as far as I know, Imoen's Chloe romance script only checks for the PC-Chloe romance variable once, when she joins the party. So if the romance was ended afterward, Chloe shouldn't go after Immy... because that would be a little tacky.

Ok... checklist:
1) When you say three lovetalks, you don't mean three conversations total, do you? You've gone through the 15 friendly dialogues and had three lovetalks including the "I like you, PC, do you like me?" dialogue?

2) Did you respond in a manner that Chloe seemed angry about in that third lovetalk?

3) Was Chloe acting... twitchy? Like... wiggling on the screen, turning to face the PC but not speaking, starting to follow you but suddenly stopping, that sort of thing?

4) Do you have any other mods installed? There aren't many mods out there that are totally incompadible with Chloe... I tried to start a thread to find out which ones were incompadible once but I didn't get many responses and it may still be floating around the forum somewhere. I think a few people had conflicting opinions on whether a few of the mods were incompadible or not.


As for the statue in the Elven city missing a trigger... I highly doubt that Chloe has done anything to that because she doesn't even make a comment when that event occurs so I can think of no reason why she would effect it whatsoever. But... if you have a buggy Chloe in your party, I suppose it's possible she prevented the trigger somehow by trying to converse with the PC when the trigger should have fired. It sounds like you'll have to load an earlier save... or if you don't have one, you'll probably have to restart. If some outside script turned off the Chloe-PC romance variable, then it would turn right back off the moment you changed it back to 1... and I'm not sure if the dialogues would continue normally even if you did manage to change the romance variable back to 1 successfully.

k. I have had a similar problem. I completed all of the romance dialogues prior to going to spellhold and had the dialogue about Imoen not stealing Chloe from the PC. Since this is my first time playing this mod, I wasn't sure if the romance was supposed to continue until after I got out of the underdark (it hasn't). I was going through the underdark when Imoen has the poetry conversation with Chloe (I did not need to force talk to Chloe). After the conversation ends, the flirt options are gone (and I assume that the romance would not continue).

as far as the checklist goes, I did not respond to Chloe in a manner that made her angry, she has been turning around as if to speak to the PC but not saying anything and I do have several mods installed: Kiara-Zaiya, Dungeon-B-Gone, Tashia, various bug fixes and several components from the ease of use mod.

I really couldn't guess then. Something is preventing Chloe from talking to the PC... usually that is the result of a value not being set correctly to either initiate the dialogue or mark the dialogue as being completed. I'm not very knowledgable on the coding aspects but I think it's usually a local value being set incorrectly... the problem with that is, if no one else has run into it, I have to assume it's unique to your game or your mod setup. Which would make it difficult to pinpoint, likely impossible for me since I only know enough about this stuff to get myself into trouble... and I wouldn't even know what to look for. You can either ask someone who knows what they're doing or wait for someone like that to traipse by this forum... it would help if you could find out if the bug was reproducable. Like... start the game over and if the problem starts up again, make a note of you did right before it starts. Unless you just happen to have the third lovetalk right before rescuing Imoen, you'll likely have the fourth lovetalk fairly soon (sometimes almost immediately) after rescuing her. If you get out of Spellhold without that dialogue, then something went wrong. Oh and I don't know whether the Underdark suspends Chloe's lovetalks or not... I think certain parts of it do because it's build into the engine, but I don't really know. It's been a long time since I played my mod. ;)

Well, once I rescued Imoen, I had 2 banters between her and Chloe and all LT's stopped. Chapter 5 IS supposed to suspend all of the lovetalks, however.

(And for refrence, my love talk counter's at 11)
