This mod changes the paperdolls and inventory icons of Baldur's Gate II to those of Baldur's Gate. There's a lot of stuff in Baldur's Gate 2 (especially in the ToB expansion) that simply doesn't live up to the artwork quality that Baldur's Gate offered--the paperdolls are a good example. Whether it's just been sloppy work on the developer side, or something else, I do not know. This mod aims to replace exactly these parts of the game with content that lives up to the quality we were used to from the original Baldur's Gate. So, technically speaking, this is an attempt to fix "cosmetic flaws" that should have never made it through QA.

UPDATE as of August 23rd, 2005!

I guess I have been blind to miss the reason for the above mentioned differences. A couple of days ago I actually took the time to give my manuals a look again, and guess what? The answer was right there, on page two. In bold letters.

As it appears, Bioware's original graphic designer responsible for the art in BG1/ToTSC, Daniel Walker, passed away on June 6th, 1999 of a 'physical disability he had since birth'. In fact, Baldur's Gate II is dedicated to his memory.

I can only hope, from wherever he is, he takes joy in our love and respect for his most lovely and unique style and artwork, and our humble attempt to try and make BGII stay faithful to it.


This Artwork pack is designed to work with Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn with or without the Throne of Bhaal expansion pack. The mod is also compatible with Tutu.


The BG2 Artwork Fixpack is packaged and installed with WeiDU and is distributed as a self-extracting archive. To install, simply double-click the archive and follow the instructions on screen.

Alternatively the files can be extracted from the archive using WinRAR. If properly extracted, you should have a 1pp folder and Setup-1pp.exe in your BG2 folder. To install, simply double-click Setup-1pp.exe and follow the instructions on screen.

Please run Setup-1pp.exe in your BG2 folder to reinstall, uninstall or otherwise change components.

Mac OS X
If the mod was previously installed, uninstall it before extracting the new version. Please note that this mod is incompatible with Mod Organizer. The BG2 Artwork Fixpack is packaged and installed with WeiDU. To install, simply extract the contents of the mod into your BG2 folder. If properly extracted, you should have a 1pp folder, Setup-1pp, and Setup-1pp.command in your BG2 folder. To install, simply double-click Setup-1pp.command and follow the instructions on screen.


The mod contains two components. The main component contains the paperdoll and inventory item updates, except for potions. Includes:
  • A port of BG1's paperdoll images
  • Completely re-worked left-handed weapon graphics for the paperdolls
  • Item graphics matching with the original paperdoll content
  • Fixed ToB item graphics (finally in BG1-BG2 style)
  • BG1 ports for some BG2 item graphics (reverting where the original looked better)
  • Various other item fixes, including a "secret" item that was broken, but present, in the original game
  • Replacing one spell effect (or: getting rid of the white spaghetti lines ^.^)
By request, the potion inventory BAMs were moved into a second, separate component.
