For those who didn't know, London has been the victim of a terrorist attack this morning. The Underground has been closed, the G8 summit disrupted, and hundreds injured.

A series of bomb attacks on London's transport network has killed more than 30 people and injured about 700 others.

Three explosions on the Underground left 35 dead and two more died in a blast on a double-decker bus.

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair promised the "most intense police and security service action to make sure we bring those responsible to justice".

British members, please assure us that you're all right !

As a side note, this thread is purely for the aforementioned reason. General Revelry is not allowed, and this topic is not to degenerate into a general discussion/condemnation/celebration of terrorism .

this is the thing about internet forums...we're all nice and happy, quite perfectly content with our real life friends we've made in high school/college/work, then we join a forum, and the next thing you know, people we've never met, become friends we talk with all the time. including some who live half way around the world from me in seattle, like shed, idolbek and seifer. so when we hear of something like this, where our friends may be hurt, we naturally get all worried and we want desperately to find out if they're ok.

This is why this post was made, and believe me, the first thing i did this morning was to check here, to make sure people were ok. the above comment was most inconsiderate.

It's been confirmed as only four bombs - three in the underground, one on a bus. The earlier figures of six and seven came because people at the stations at both sides of each explosion were reporting them.

given that the last of the blasts went off at 09:47 AM on July 7th, i don't think we need to be overly concerned about andyr's safety in this regard.
