I'm having trouble understanding certain aspects of KOTOR 2 modding, and I'd be grateful for any assistance. Please bear with me if any of these questions seem obvious, I have very little modding experience.
1. What is "compiling" scripts? One mod I am trying to install, stoff -mbk-'s improved AI mod, has a bunch of loose .nss files. I think that they have to be "compiled," but I'm not sure what that means or how that works.
2. What is a "source script"? For a while I thought I had the TSL Hardcore Mod installed correctly until I noticed that I had only copied the k_ai_master file into the Override folder and not the "source scripts." What difference does this make?
3. If I need to edit a specific line in one of the .nss files, how do I do that? In the case of stoff -mbk-'s mod, I had to find a specific line number in one of the files and add some lines of text. I tried using Notepad's "goto" command to find the specific line number I needed, but it seemed to fall in the middle of another block of text, and I was afraid of screwing it up. Am I doing something wrong, or should I use another text editor?
I'd post this over at Holowan Labs, but it's taking forever for me to register there. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry Thes, but we don't know the answers to most of your questions...
1. compile usually means taking raw code, and running it through some utility, though since i've never modded kotor, i don't know anything about the process.
2. no idea.
3. really don't know about that...i would guess another text editor...
really, talk to the good folk of Holowan...they're the experts, we don't mod much on that engine here.
