Well, I now installed this BGT Weidu-mod, but I noticed I have some problems with the music. I now hear the Nashkel carnaval-music in towns like Beregost and Nashkel, while I hear normal outdoor music at the Carnival. Was this meant to be so? In the BG-BGT-mod I installed before the music wasn?t mixed up like this. Update: when I transport my party to the city of Baldur's Gate, and walk around the city, I also hear outdoor-music instead of the BG City ones.

Perhaps useful information: besides BGT Weidu I also installed Ascension and the Baldurdash bugfixes for BG2:TOB only (not the BG1 ones).

BGT-WeiDU is NOT compatible with Ascension and old-style Baldurdash.

Hmmz... well, then I'll install BGT Weidu with Baldurdash Weidu v1.4, check if things work, then backup the files, and install Ascension when starting Throne of Bhaal, so I can see if it works or not. That should do, aye?

Oh, and perhaps some other ideas for smaller mods/tweaks to use with BGT Weidu? Some days ago I did the whole BG-BGT mod with many other mods, but I prefer now to play BG1 and BG2 only with some improvements for the gameplay and stuff.

Anyhow, I'll keep you all up to date if the music works after a re-install or not. ;)

Well, I installed BGT again, but I have the same problem. But when I play the normal BG1 game in de BG1 engine, I do not have different music in the areas (no music from the Nashkel Carnival at the Friendly Arms Inn, etc). So, what could cause this? Is it perhaps scripted in BGT the areas get different music?

Anyhow, I will now try BGT094b instead of BGT099b3, perhaps that will make a difference.

Well, you should know that some of the music has been changed due to unavailability of every single piece of music in BG1. If you don't like it, then tough for now, because installing 0.94 is suicide, seriously! :(
If there is some incorrect assignment of music and the music is imported into BGT-WeiDU, then I can fix that, but otherwise, you are out of luck. Music isn't such a big problem, though, hey?

Well, to be honest, I think the music is of real importance to the gaming experience. But what do you mean with the unavailability of every single piece of music in BG1? In the old BG1 there is a CDay1 and a CDay2 (this is the Carnival one), but in the BGT-one there is only one CDay (also the Carnival)? but there aren't any TDays's. (Why) can these things not be fixed? Will editing some lines (in the are-files) and overriding the music files to the override folder not work?

Thanks anyway. ;)

Not without compromising BG2 music. In brief, there is something called SONGLIST.2DA that can only accept 100 lines of different music. Combining BG1 and BG2 music will give over 100 lines and the game refuses to start with a C error. Therefore, there must be sacrifices made for the game to be playable at all. This means that BGT-WeiDU cannot include all the music, and scripting the music has been deemed nearly impossible.

Hmm, I see. BG2 has 156/2= 78 music files, and BG1 has 68/2=34 music files. But isn't it an option when (some of) the fighting music from BG1 is replaced for the ones in BG2? Personally I think the normal area music is of greater importance than the fighting music. And maybe a bit from the BG2 music list can be deleted as well, so when playing through BG1 the ambiance is less monotone. Perhaps an idea?

We are trying to introduce a BG1 part of the game into BG2, not vice versa. So you should accept that something from BG1 music is skipped. I don't think that ppl will be satisfied if they'd hear some BG1 tunes during their ToB exploration. So, sorry, there's no other options.

But of course you should blame BioWare programmers with their poor music system realization.... :fish: :rtfm: :wall:

Has anyone had a look at a possible BGMain.exe patch that can remove this kind of limit? It sounds difficult, because the ARE file structure would probably have to changed to be able to recognise hex values of above the decimal-equivalent 100.

If you even manage to do something like this, make sure you that follow copyright restrictions and only distribute PATCHES to BGMain.exe not an already altered version of BGMain.exe. Good luck.

There is another option... removing some of the BG1 fighting music and use the BG2 fighting music instead in BG1. That will keep the BG1 area music, and still keeps the BG1 part as an introducé to BG2 (without BG1 being too monotone in its music). And don't forget the tavern music from BG2 is the same as the tavern music from BG1; so only around eight of the following BG1 files can be kept outside the BGT Weidu mod: BC1, BC2, BD1, BD2, BF1, BF1, BL1, BL2, BP1, BP2, BW1, and/or perhaps a few BG1 area music no one really cares about. Anyhow, I think that would be a better option than to remove the area music that is so characteristic for BG1, like the TDay1 tune and so one.

1) If you look carefully at BGT SONGLIST.2DA you will realize that I filled in everything that could be considered as "possible to skip". Tavern music is in that set. I'll tell you - it was hard to choose what to left and what to skip.

2) I absolutely disagree to use BG2 battle sounds instead of BG1 because they are completely different in styles. Plus ppl spend most of their time in battles. If you want to relax listening to the music I suggest you to use you audo rack instead.

3) BG1 city/area songs are much more similar to each other than BG2 ones. So I've decided to cut that list a little bit.

4) I suggest you to put your efforts to the right direction. Just make your own mini-mod that will put everything in a way you prefere. And of course enjoy the process... ;)
