Downloaded RoT from The Wizard's site. Read the readme. Did a full install of Shadows of Amn only with no patches, no TOB, no other mods.

Started a new game, saved it and exited.
Ran the RoT Installer. Unzipped the latest patch into Override, not Patch3 and Patch 4.

Loaded the saved game and played till the end of the dungeon - No Drizzt.

Exited and started another new game. Still no Drizzt!!!

Very, very Frustrated! :(

Edited to add: Problem solved. Installer was defaulting to one level below where mods are usually installed. When manually adjusted install worked fine.

Only problem encountered so far is a "yellowing" of the game buttons on the left and right side of the screen.

Being a big fan of the RA Salvatore Dark Elf Trilogy/IceWind Dale series am looking forward to playing this. :D

I'm glad everything worked out. :)

If I were you, I would unzip Patch4 into your Override folder. It should be installed in addition to RoT_patch_v1.0a.zip.

Actually those "yellowings" were done on purpose. I was just experimenting and kind of forgot to remove them from the final version. However if you donīt like them, you can get rid of them manually.

Youīll find 4 files from your override that look like GUI*****.bam. Just remove them and you should have the old buttons back. ;)

Okey - dokey, will unzip Patch4 as well (Readme didn't mention it). I found a workaround for the "yellowings" but unfortunately it destroyed your great "splash screen" with Artemis. The TutuGUI makes everythnig look like BG1 and I'll take note of your instructions about the .bam files on my next game run.

Thanks again.

Sent an e-mail - I see references in interdia.2da for the banter files but they don't appear in my Override folder and I wondered on the lack of banter at least between the normal Icewind Dale party. Is this intentional? If not, can you tell me which .bif file in Data has them?

2. how come Drizzt & Wulfgar don't have their unique weapons? Or is this answered by Drizzt's comment on their escape from Irenicus' dungeon?

1. There are several topics in this forum (most stickied) in which Iīve written that I didnīt have the energy or will left to write banters when I had completed the mod. So unfortunately there are no banters (sorry about that). Anyone is free to create an additional mod for RoT adding banters though.

2. This matter was discussed when TeamBG still existed. It was decided that the best way to handle the weapon thing would be to make them not have their weapons in the Dungeon (because they are so powerful) and then make some puny excuse why they didnīt have them and add some lousy quest to get them back. Youīll get the weapons from Icewind Dale. ;)

You're the boss :D
Just wondered since Drizzt lacked the famous scimitars and Wulfgar Aegis-Fang.
Heh - still, can just dream of Bruenor making a cutting remark to Korgan that he's no 'Pwent', the ultimate Berserker! Wonder if it can be done since you do have placeholders for the bxxxx.d files. :P

It can be done quite easily. ;)

Anyway, I did add Pwent to the game. He makes an appearance in one of the Icewind Dale quests if Bruenor is in the party if I remember correctly. Just changes a few words, nothing much.

But this is just so great if anyone decides, with your approval to add banter! Imagine alone what the "Companions of the Hall" could do with putdowns of Anomen when he starts bragging about his exploits with the Hillnasher or some suich giants and given Drizzt/Wulfgar's adventures with Icing Death, Kessell's army and Biggrin. Also, with Drizzt himself and Viconia, I believe Drizzt's Matron Mother Malice helped destroy Viccy's house De'Vir.

Have to play this to the end. I'm assuming this ends somewhere after "Servant of the Shard" in the RA Salvatore world.

Speaking of houses, what about Drizzt in the Underdark with the PC? He would probably have a lot to say about the drow in Ust Natha. But I digress. :)

The last book I read was the one where Aegis-Fang was stolen. I donīt know what has happened after that so the mod takes place depending on the situation that was active in the end of that book.

That's "The Spine of the World" where Wulfar gets thrown into prison in Luskan.
Looks like we still have a long road to travel. :)

Edited to add before I start watching my DVDs. I finaly got the ring in the sewers under Arlax. Everytime I got a new quest I tried to put an entry on the map screen but in one instance it got a duplicate entry for Randall in the Inn. Where the heck can I now find the owner of this ring? I've wandered all over Arlax, in the streets, traverns and inns.

Gilgamesh - you're still a meanie!

Okay - I did the Arlax farmer's quest twice cause I thought since you make it so hard that using the cheater's CRTL-Y would have damaged the coding so didn't do it THIS time. Killed the boss baddie in the cave without cheating - but now I cannot find Eslath (guy who gave me the quest) so I can get credit for it. All farmers in the region still use the dialog when you first do the quest.

Arrrgggghhhh! (Still having a lot of fun though).

Edited to add: Found him where Damas said he saw him. Quest completed!

I have a question on the same topic. I did the Arlax farm quest and completed it but I forgot to speak to Estlath in the beginning where he tells you to go north and then he waits at the exit. He is now standing at the beginning of the map but he won't give me my xp and items reward :(. Any1 got a solution for this? I could just put the items in my inventory using keeper but I can't remember what they were.

OK, this is how the quest is supposed to go:

1. Esath gives you the quest.
2. You go to the farms and he tells you to follow the road to north.
3. Enter the next area, enter the cave, enter the second cave, kill the bad guy.
4. Return to Esath and heīll give you the reward (he may be waiting on the road or in his house in the farms).

I never considered the possibility of someone missing Esath when entering the farms as he should initiate dialog automatically. But if that didnīt happen you can always try to check all the three houses and see if he has appeared mysteriosly in one of them.

I'm having the same problem, but I fear I'm a bit uneducated in mod matters. How would I manually adjust the install?
