I'm thoroughly enjoying this TC . I've played all the infinity engine games and much of their respective mods more than is healthy and this is almost certainly the best . The Dragonlance TC was also very good but doesn't seem to be going any further.
Liked starting from scatch again , the areas are good , nice mix of well-rounded characters , adventures all good .

A little bit of constructive ( I Hope) critiscism(?)
There is too much and too high a level of treasure , as a lvl 3 fighter thief I already have over 50000 gold and a +2 longsword . It could be toned down just a little I feel.

I like XP rewards for completing goals / reporting back , gimme that warm glow of acheivement !

The lizard men need to be softened up or have their xp increased , although I didnt wipe out their base.

I noticed a few small spelling mistakes , I read elsewhere on the forum that you could do with proofreaders and I would love to help . Do I need any other skills than reading and spelling ?

Thats just my tuppenceworth , Thank You for making it !

Thanks for your comments.

Any typos you see, just post the error here with a quick description of who and what you were talking about. That way I can fix it for the next version. As for treasure, I based this off of BG1 and what you are able to access at the same levels. Prism's bountyhunter, Greywolf, drops a +2 sword; Bassil, the crazy priest outside Beregost, drops a +1 (with lightning) hammer, and there are some others in the game.

The amount of money is an issue I have been looking at changing. However, you do not have many scrolls or other magic items at this point. In Selguant, there will be a store like the Sorcerous Sundrees where you can purchase items for your mages/druids and other weaker characters. It won't be cheap. The guy should suck all the money out of you if you really want to load up. Up to this point, there hasn't been a good store to purchase those types of items.

XP levels are based on The Big Picture. In fact, several of these creatures and their attributes come right from that mod. Why? Because you will have the ability to reach level 50 and you shouldn't do it in 5 hours of game play. I have lowered the amount of XP for traps, spell memorizing, and kills. This keeps you from advancing too fast and distorting the game balance.

The lizardmen are not easy, they aren't supposed to be. The trick to them is to use melee weapons so they can't throw their spears at you. Close combat with them is easy, more so if you are hasted. Most have 40 or less HP, so Althon or Dirbert should be able to take one out in 3 good hits.

I really am having fun playing. I like Aesdale and Althon the best because they are interesting. I think the writing is very good. I really like you and leahnkains writing style. You guys are like the Batman and Robin of BG!
I also think there is too much gold. I have a good idea, make Rurik charge a lot of money when he makes something.
I hope Arendil will be made. I want to know more and more about the stories. The party I have is great. Please make more. This is better than BG2.

I am curious as to how you all are getting so much gold. I know that the Saltmarsh captain gives you too much for each quest. This was based on the original mod, but I plan to cut back on the amount. Is it all from selling items you find?

For me, right before I finish the citadel, I always head back to Madam Hucrele in town to buy Shadow a +1 short sword and if there is enough, to get an amulet of Protection +1. That normally drops me down to almost nothing.

By the time you head to Saltmarsh, I have maybe 100 - 250 gold. So do you have more because you aren't buying anything or because you get so much more later, like during the lizardman quests?

Rurik has some increase in his cost to you but compared to the other merchants in town, he is a bargain. The fletcher guy is charging you double what the items are worth. (Unless I didn't put that store in, hmm).

I guess what I need to know is the gold issue from too much laying around or from too many unneeded items being sold? I can adjust both but I would like to know which one I should concentrate more effort on.

If it turns out the gold is too much, you can always do a few of the PnP tricks. The local magistrate needs his taxes, ambitious thieves with sticky fingers, script in the characters having to pay for training before advancing levels. All that fun stuff. ;)

The great wolf Fenrir gapes ever at the dwelling of the gods.

About the large amounts of treasure ,

I haven't had to buy anything expensive , all my party has decent weapons and armour , mostly found . I like to carry out as much as I can and there has been quite a few composite longbows , numerous +1 leather armour , gems ( incl a diamond and a kings tear ) , sold some scrolls too .... is this any help ?

Loved the item which gave you healing and cure poison skills , the lore book was nice too !

About the fact that I'm stuck.

When I go back to tell the militia captain about the sanguin problem when she gets to the dialog "Why would they do that ?" I only have "No valid replies or something "

Is this as far as you've got ?

Also I cant find the bookseller and cant get to where the map screen says heshe is , the top left corner .

Thanks for your help

The bookseller is up around the graveyard. It is a little tricky figuring out how to get there. You may want to use the area map, select that region, go back to the regular screen and click there, so the party will try to walk around the graveyard to get there.

The Captain should have 2 options, one you say and the other Althon says. Is he in your party? If not, it must be the way I check to see if he can talk right now.

She will tell you that they need another council meeting. This sets some globals and she also gives you gold and XP.

SetGlobal("TCCouncilAgrees2Liz","GLOBAL",1)
SetGlobal("TCLizTellCouncil","GLOBAL",2)
GiveGoldForce(3000)
AddexperienceParty(3000)

I don't think the last two work at the Command Console but set the first 2 so the game can continue:

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("TCCouncilAgrees2Liz","GLOBAL",1)
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("TCLizTellCouncil","GLOBAL",2)

You will need to press the Return key after each line to process them. Afterwards, you can leave. It will take 12 hours (maybe 24 hours) before she will tell you that the Council agrees to help the lizardmen.

Once she tells you, go back to the lizardman chief and let him know. He will review the next area on the map. Hopefully that will work correctly.

I don?t know if Sir Billy Bob likes being called Batman?I guess it is better than being called the Boy Wonder. I have found the magic to be on par with BG1 so far. J Webster you should join the message board. Your suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks ! I got going again using the console to set the variables , but I should say that my install may not be 100% clean .

I was playing "Return to Trademeet" but uninstalled it then installed CA rather than do a complete fresh install . When I finish CA I think I will remove everything then do a nice clean install and play it again , I think I would like to try a fighter for a change.

About the gold thing , I think its a good idea to give the player some costs for whatever reason . "Money sinks" I've heard them called.

Money Pit is a term for something you buy and have to keep putting more money into it afterwards. There is a movie about a house like that.

I have a few plans for you in Selgaunt. You may not be happy with all of them, we will see...

As for the install, I will be posting up a full package of .32 later this week to TheWizard. It is about 230MB so if you can do a fast download and want to have 1 full install instead of patches, this may be the way to go. It has the same bugs as your current version.

I?d like to thank you Sir Billybob and Leahnkain for making this Mod. I?m a international student and I didn?t have any friends when I arrived. My first friends I found in your Mod, Dirbert, Shadow, Blush, Althon and Aesdale. Your creativity is unending. I owe a lot to you both because I was lonely and bored before classes started. I am making friends and I am really enjoying my life here now. :D
I have some recommendations:
1) Less magic items. Don?t give the villains magic armor. Increase their dexterity instead.
2) Less gold and gems. I can?t spend the money so much gold.
3) More NPC?s. I think many people would like a different starting group. BG you could get Imoen, a magic user and a halfling on the same screen.
4) Music for the cutscenes.
I have played your MOD many times. I love it. I can?t wait to play more chapters. This is better than BG series. :P

Responses:

1. Working on it. Villains should always have the good stuff instead of you finding it in a box. I would rather you work for that sword or wand than just find it sitting in a chest while the villain uses worn-out items.

2. Working on the gold and gems. You will have a use for this later but I will still reduce the amounts.

3. On the first screen, you can pick up Shadow, Dirbert, and Rurik. So what is the difference?

4. Music requires copyright permission. Other option is to use music from IWD or PST (technically, I probably still need copyright permission). No one seems to care if you use a copyrighted portrait, but the music industry must have more lawyers than artist. Go talk to Napster if you don't know what I am talking about. This isn't a closed subject but I am not working on it right now.
