A very minor problem was that when I reloaded my quick save I got the message "Belak uses wand" all the time every few seconds.

A bigger problem is with the dialog. When you surrender to Belak you get flame striked. My PC survived thanks to the ring with 50% fire resistance. I attacked the tree and chopped it down. After killing the evil tree Belak talks to me and says No! You fools! and creates 4 Twig Blights. He then gets stuck in a loop and keeps repeating himself and keeps creating Twig Blights.

You survived the strike? This is the same attack that is used against you in BG1 if you accuse Savarok but don't have his diary for Belt to look at. Normally, the game kills you. So, it looks like I need to fix that. Thanks for testing the surrender (which you should normally never do). I must have missed an action that actually kills the PC.

By the way, surrendering to him to be fead into the tree would kill the PC, Belak even tells you that.

The tree spawns blights as well as Belak but it does sound like I am letting him loop his dialog. Noted for the next fix.

The strike did 29 fire damage in total, my character has 30 hit points. :D So I wasn't killed and could start hitting the tree. It did spawn Twig Blights as expected. Hard to kill from time to time an d they seem to have quite a good THAC0.

Another thing to mention is if someone else but the PC talks to Belak and surrenders (s)he gets the flame strike and the PC also survives. Maybe something to look at for the next fix that the PC gets killed when surrendering and not whoever talked to Belak?
