Anyone know a good book with stats for them? As far as I know, there are no "official" rules for them by WotC, but I can live with a good 3rd party book with balanced rules.

well, it ain't an official book, but I've made my own compendium for the D&D 3rd edition, which contains a suggestion for a Wild Mage, and so far, I've gotten great responses on the balance. But see for yourself:

The Wild Mage class is constructed to be used with the wild magic table under the "spells" section of the compendium, but works fine with any wild magic table really.

The Wild Mage is located under the "Classes" section.

I think there's a prestige class Wild Mage in the Complete Arcane book, for 3.5. If you don't like that version, Mongoose published a book called Chaos Magic which had rules that gave a similar effect to the Wild Mage. And finally, either in MAgic of Faerun or Players' Guide to Faerun there was some information about wild magic, including some rules information.

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

I own both books, and there is information sure, but no class-description and such.

Yes, I was remembering it incorrectly. The Wild Mage prestige class is in Complete Arcane, and very dull it is too. The rules information including the table for wild surges is in FRCS, table 2-1 to be specific. That is quite specific about these rules being specific to wild magic zones, but you might be able to adapt it to the prestige class.

Personally, I think I might write my own version.

Which was why I wrote both my own class and table. Both the "official" ones were boring...
