God knows I don't use that method. Fascism is the best. Especially with an iron fist.

Hmm..and I've always favored that subtle approach. Lull the players into a (false) sense of security, let them think that they are boss. Then, when they aren't looking, "smack 'em up-side da hedd" with a giant sea bass . :fish:

Well...This poll has no role in deciding modders activity. It just gives an idea about the users' wish... :)

Well i am not modder and at the player side i cant see any point merging two mods but on another thread they claim that it has advantages for the modders. So it is better modders make the decision.

Hm...It's interesting to notice that a significant amount of people would rather not have the Merger even see the day of the light. The community here - at least those who parteciapted to the poll so far - seems to be divided in two. And this reflects quite well people's reaction on other related topics.

Why people are favourable is not worth discussing but why people are against instead yes...

People like Domi are against because they fear to see their modding activity lost because of "possible incompatibilities"...

Others make it a matter of "flag"...That is: "We don't want to have anything to do with those other guys! <Write either TuTu or BGT-WeiDU> rulez!!!" which sounds a little like the "good" old crusaders...

Others yet believe that two parallel projects work better than a single one even because - they say - they don't share the same developing "spirit"...

Others probably think that such a project would take too long and would be a waste of efforts...

Probably there are more categories among the "unfavourables" but those are what come to my mind.

What is perhaps a little sad to see is the lack of enthusiasm and I would even dare say "faith" in the judgement of veteran, talented modders who came with such initiative.

By the way, if it was not for Ascension64's initiative, we would have never got BGT-WeiDu...If it was not for PPG's modders initiative (say SimDing0) we'd never have got Unfinished Businness or Quest Pack and neither TuTufixes...If it was not for CamDawg's initiative, we'd probably be stuck with Baldurdash to the end of times whereas BG2 Fixpack is being worked on and will be a real breakthrough.

Well...Since these people represent for me the best there is around, with others too of course, I completely advocate what they will decide about making or not making a Merger. And I am sure that if they do, they will deliver something ourstanding which will make both TuTu and BGT-WeiDu obsolete.

We will see... :whistling:

Salk, are you encouraging our WeiDU ninjas to start this project? What will be your role or role of any other forum user like me? Don't say "contribution", THEY will spend their time, we can only play after it is finished. Most people from these communities will be testers, not the coders.
Concerning the poll... Do you know many people from BGT/TuTu communities who are completely not satisfied by the current way of things? Why not to add the third option like "I don't give a sh.."? :) The community would have been divided not in 2, but in 3 ;)
And also, I completely agree with horred's point of view, "just let them think they are the boss" :naughty:
The decision will be made by 1-2 people, there is no place for democracy here :bi:

ScuD,

I have no role in this of course. I am no modder. I sometimes come up with some ideas that some nice people kindly pick up (Restored Prologue Music, courtesy of Ascension64) and I like to express my opinion when I feel much involved in something.

Of course I have no ambition to influence any modders' decision. But I know that people like to receive feedback often. And believe me, some of these people are modders...

Seriously, if 42 people bothered to vote here, it probably means that many don't think "I don't give a s**t!" about this discussion. I'd say the poll was successful and captured people's interest.

And anyway, testers are very useful to modders...

I really don't see any logical reason not to do this. It would just make everything better.

The less decisions i have to take, the better. So combining them would spare lots of extra work. And then being able to concentrate on making all mods worth playing compatible with other.

Since this is only a poll, and not a "let's get it together, people" thread, my vote and my hopes are for.

With all the creative juices out there, and some compromise on both sides, a single game from start to finish with a variety of mods to color each playing has been a hope since I found these BG games and these fora/forums (?).

I'm not a modder, so I have no idea what would be entailed, but -- here's hopin'!!!

I think we can call the poll closed at this time and can draw our own conclusions. The community is strongly advocating the creation of the TuTu/BGT merger with over 71%. 66 people voted and perhaps the number is not so big but you all must think that people who voted are people who care about this ongoing debate. Cheers!
