Hi,

I love the Archer, it is one of my favorite Class. Another nice class is the Vampire Hunter from TDD :D.

Well but both have one drawback, you cant dual-class them, so a Fighter/Thief is often for me the better Choice since I dont wanna have a Single Class Char. In my opinion a single class (except sorcerer) is wasted in BG2.

Well I checked my override folder and found a dualclass.2da and there are the allowed dualclasses written. Well now I'm not sure what will gonna happen if I set the right "1" for Dual-Classing an Archer to a Mage/Thief?

Or better to say:

Where do I have to mod to allow an Archer/Thief or Archer/Mage or other Dual-Classes so that there will be no problems? I mean if a Ranger can dual-class why not an Archer? There must be a rule file...

Thank you

PS:
I know that such a change can alter game balancing but it's only for private enjoyment so who cares? ;)

PPS:
And since I'm an Elf Fan it would be even nicer to create such a multiclass. Dual-Classing is nice but I prefer Multi-Classing so that both classes reach HLA :)
--> would be great if someone could help me out here ^^

Use shadowkeeper.

Too much bother.
Simply make a Fighter/Thief or a Ranger/Cleric, and then change the kit with Shadowkeeper.
It is not possible to have a ranger dual to anything other than a Cleric.
You can add the special abilities by copying them from an existing character or by using SK.
If I recall correctly, there is a custom Archer fighter kit, somewhere.
Using that would allow you to have an Archer/Thief/Mage.

Unfortunately, the only class a ranger (true class or kits) can dual-class to/from in BG2 is the cleric. If you try anything else, the game will crash.

However, there are a few possible workarounds. The simplest would be to create a new thief or mage kit with the abilities of the archer. The downside to this is that it wouldnt' be able to cast ranger spells, and would have the item restrictions of the base class (unless you change item restrictions via a utility such as DLTCEP).

A more complicated method would involve applying a kit to a cleric/thief or cleric/mage, and messing around with various files to change what spells he recieves, how many spell slots he gets, etc. This would be pretty complicated though, especially if you want the changes to only affect the PC.

How about the generic archer class from tactics?

it is a Fighter Class right?

but the problem is that I use TDD, so I would have to install it without kits would it still work?

the vampire hunter is a fighter kit, would it be a problem if I changed the dualclass.2da so that I could dual-class with him? since the game allows a Fighter to dual-class to mage or thief it shouldnt be a problem right?

The GA is a fighter class, yes.

I don't have TDD so I can't give a reliable answer to the other questions.

ok I will try it, I think you can choose while installing TDD if you want the kits and I will choose no

thx the kit is right what I need :)

the few druid spells a real Archer can cast aren't so important since I will dual-class I wont get any nice ones anyway

besides I like thx XP tree of the Fighter more since you get high Lvls earlier the ranger just like paladin needs too long :(

and I want to dual-class at either 9,12, or 15 and getting 15 is way too long with a Ranger so Fighter is much better there

There is another trick you can use to add the Archer abilities, after you give your PC the class kit.

You need to write a small player script. Say, ARCHER.BS.

IF
  True()
THEN
  RESPONSE #100
AddKit(ARCHER)//you'll have to look in KIT.IDS to get the proper generic archer name. The in-game kit is named FERALAN
END

Compile and save, and put the script in your scripts folder.

Just plug this script in once, for a few seconds of gameplay--you'll get a message indicating the kit was added. Then, put your script aside. If you go up more levels, and the ability doesn't trigger for you--just plug in the script again. It won't double-up your abilities.
