I'm currently playing this mod and think, that a number of items is still vastly overpowered.

I consider to make a mod which tweaks these items, as well as creating encouters to get those items, which you now find in chest.

Would you give permission to release such a mod?

Not that I'm one to discourage folks from modding to their preferences, but it seems to me that, though there is a prevalence of overpowered items in DSotSC, there is also a prevalence of severely overpowered enemies. Sure, the various armors, swords, wands, etc. make the unmodded portions of BG a cakewalk, but try beating a Bone Golem, a Drow Weapons Master, a Bregan D'Aerthe baddie, and the like with a vanilla BG party! It's hard enough to bring those folk down with buffed, item-rich characters. It'd be well-nigh impossible without some kind of assistance.

Still, dowhutchalike, huh? Try putting aside the added items for a particularly nasty battle, and see if you still want to nerf them. Just my two cents' worth.

LMAO, I was going to post the same thing!! I actually tried it, I had the "overpowered" stuff in my inventory and went into the battle with the normal "non-overpowered" stuff and got my ass handed to me on a silver platter quicker than you can say "what the hell was that" .

I will look into this as soon as I get there (The last version I tried was the original mod, so my memories about this part may be wrong.).

Anyway which items did you use? Can't you get a similar effect by using potions and scrolls?

Potions can be dispelled, weapons/items can't.

No one is really in charge of DSotSC. TeamBG created the mod years ago and they seemed to have all walked off into the sunset. I converted it to BGT-BP just so we had more mods for the BG1 part and I was getting tired of porting my PC and new items to the BGT-BP game.

At this point, I think DSotSC is finally stable (though I haven't tested with BGT-Weidu 1.0 yet). So let me keep control of the core mod. You work on a tweak mod with whatever changes you want to make. That way players aren't forced into using a tweak mod if they really like the high powered items.

Just to let you know, I do plan on making a tweak as well. Now that BP-Weidu is available, I plan to reintroduce the new enemies with all the "benefits" of Horred's AI. Imagine fighting that ArchDruid just outside of the Cloakwood Mines now, only now he has all the possible spells he should have at that level. Be afraid, be very afraid...

BTW, I don't plan on any item changes, just making tougher enemies.

Edit: Last thing, I have no true control over NTotSC. I asked permission from the original author and explained the changes I was going to make. I recommend you do the same if you plan to modify their mod. Only proper and polite.

If you decide to make any item upgrades make sure you check out the DSotSC Mod created solely for BG1 on the COM forums. Almost every item used has been revised in terms of power and text spellings. I also redid the BAMS. Whatever decision you make don't create a lot of work for yourself when that work may have already been done.

Currently finishing a revision of DSotSC I must admit (and that could be such a surprise to everybody ;) )that there're only ~5% of all items that were coded properly (!!!). Most 'overpowered' items just had absolutely amazing inconsistences between actual settings and their descriptions (like +32000 THAC0 bonuses , doubled to announced values damage bonuses etc.).

So, now all that craziness is fixed.

Beside all other small fixes here and there I managed to reduce mod size up to 13MB (all WAVs now OGGed).

All sounds are refreshed and 'mastered' (old non-WeiDU archive used for digging originals).

And an auto-biffer, of course.... :P

I am not sure what you are talking about since these creatures and items are in the game. I do think there are a few scrolls in the BG1 game that I couldn't figure out where they go, so I couldn't duplicate them here. Also, since you will see a new version soon, I wouldn't worry about this too much.

These subjects are registered only in tp2. And to receive them it is possible only by means of the console since they do not appear in are, baf, cre, d, sto files from this mod.

(for example NTBRAC01.itm is specified in NTSHILOC.d, NTCHAN06.itm is specified in AR53PB.are, NTDART1.itm is specified in STHaebal.sto. But NTARROW1.itm is specified anywhere.)

Ok, I shall check up in the new version.
