After getting my install together and hearing the music interjected by NEJ, I have a desire to change the music back.

The sticky topic in this forum describing how to make this adjustment says:

* NEJ2 installs custom starting music (The Cardigans, for those who care) as an integral part of the NEJ2 install. to revert to the existing BGII music:

1. open yr NEJ2\backup\7 folder;
2. copy combo1a.acm and combo1b.acm to your music\combo1 folder, and
3. copy themea.acm to your music\theme folder.

However, I cannot find a combo1a.acm file in my NEJ2\backup\7 folder. My install seems to be without error. Can anyone help me out here? The NEJ music just isnt doing it for me.

If you have Setup-GUI.exe, just choose another GUI to change the music.

It allows you to have BG1 music for BGT, NeJ music for NeJ, BG2 music for BG2 etc, very nice!
[just have to run it when you want to change it]

This only applies if you used the NeJ2Biffer. NeJ2 by itself does not make any entries in the GUI Switcher.

OK, I will try that this evening. However, I had used the GUI setup originally (before starting my game, but after installing) to set up the BP interface and I was still getting the NEJ music. Any idea why I dont see the comboa.acm file in my NEJ2\backup\7 dir?

Yes; because NeJ2 doesn't touch it. I just checked the tp2 w/ my own eyes. :whistling:

I had added combo1a to the list on somebody else's word.
My bad...never trust anybody in the modding business! ( ;) )

How many times did you install NeJ2 on this particular install, and did the installer ever choke on you in any of these times (esp, installing w/o the Biffer)? If it choked even once, that means it had already overwritten your perfectly good in-game music files, and then lost memory of the transaction. So, all subsequent installs would thus be FUBAR.

I used the biffer. I think I might have missed the changes to the tp2 file the first time around and uninstalled and then made the changes and reinstalled, but I cannot remember for sure.

So worse case: I ran the NEJ2v42 and NEJ2v602 patch installers bailing out on the weidu setup. Then I ran the nejbiffer, realized that I didnt remove the required lines, uninstalled with the nejbiffer, removed the appropriate fields from the tp2 filet and re-ran the biffer. Then I ran the weidu setup for the NEJ2v602 script. Im not positive about this, but I know I didnt run the NEJ2v42 weidu setup (I did use the biffer) and I know I didnt have any errors.

Given this possible chain of events, is it possible that my NEJ2 install is screwed and if so doesnt that simply mean that I can never effectively uninstall NEJ2. I mean is my install still probably ok?

Yes, just your music will be screwed. To fix it, you'll need to grab the files from a Vanilla (ToB-patched) install.

I grabbed these two files from a newly patched TOB install and dropped them into their respective folders with no change to the music selection. I also tried using the GUI switcher, but also with no luck. I either get NEJ music or none at all. Anymore troubleshooting advice would be welcome.

Nevermind. As soon as I moved to the next area the music switched.

i've corrected the instructions on changing the music to reflect the findings in this thread.

There must be something specific to my saved games that holds a pointer to the NEJ music. Here is why I believe this:

I started a game a couple of weeks ago. After my initial install I used the Setup-GUI weidu to select the NEJ GUI. In the first area outside of Candlekeep I got my initial taste of the NEJ battle music :WTF: (I do not understand how anyone can really get into a battle with the Cardigans softly crooning in the background). Anyway, I immediately decided this wasnt the music for me and remembered the change music/GUI sticky in this forum. I made the appropriate changes, but the music in the first area did not change  .

In an effort to understand the instructions in this sticky post and why they may not be working for me I started this thread. After conversing with Horred and others I started to consider the possibility that I may have had an issue installing NEJ2 (see above in this tread, although after working through this problem Im pretty sure I DID NOT have a problem with the NEJ2 install). At the suggestion of Horred, I retrieved the combo1b.acm and themea.acm files from a clean BG2 install and placed them in the music/combo1 and music/theme directories of my monster, but in the first area I still got the NEJ2 music! :crying:

Eventually I resigned myself to the Cardigans' power ballads and moved on to the next area, and guess what? To my relief and joy the BG2 music was back :woot: . Things were going along smoothly (made it through the Nashkel mines), until I entered the Temple area where the NEJ2 music returned!

In a few areas I get the Cardigans, in others BG2 battle music! It seems that there must be some pointer to different music in different areas. Can anyone help me here? The NEJ2 music is TOTALLY KILLING MY BUZZ! I have to believe there is a way to address this problem. Many thanks to anyone who can offer assistance.
