ascue does nothing (spoilers)

2nd time entering Garroton, after cleaning out the lizardmen, Ascue pops in and does nothing, checking the area with NI, it looks like he was supposed to talk to me with a BHEscortSpawn=1 but it was already at 3, so i set it back to 1 then he would talk to me and send me to the castle. This was how ever after I had been to the castle by normal means, (walking) but couldn't leave, cleaned out most of the castle, and had to movetoarea out of there, ascue was still there so I changed the variable, and he promptly sent me back to an empty castle.
I have a save before meeting Ascue and went back to that, he showed up and did nothing, again.

Is this another script file error?
or doing things in the wrong order?

so far I came back, talked to peltar
went to Garroten, talked to different people, found out
the fisherman problem.
went to the lizardman lair, (saved)
went back to Garroton, and Ascue showed up,
'walked' to castle, 'movetoarea' back to Garroton, set variable then Ascue would talk.
reload back at (saved) try again.

Yeah, you messed him up.

Ascue will only appear in town if you talked to someone and told them the real reason you are there. After about 12 hours from when you said the wrong thing, he will appear and take you to the castle so the mayor can talk to you. She will threat you to leave town. In your case, it sounds like you already killed her (if you cleared out the castle). So normally he would tell you where he is taking you but that global is already higher, so he has nothing to say when outside. I assume you fought him in the castle also? If so, I guess I should see about changing the scripts to make sure he is alive before teleporting into the area.

Actually I met him before I went to the castle, and he had nothing to say, and went to the castle bymyself, but the other problem is that everything is 'destination unreachable' fromthe castle, so I have to 'movetoarea' to get out of there. is that normal?

I can go back and reload I have a save before meeting Fabio, and after being in Garrotten, and the lizardmen cave, and several saves along different paths,

The "destination unreachable" sounds like a problem from Worldmap 4. I thought the latest version fixed that. You shouldn't have this movement problem while in Garrotten, only when at the castle.

Ascue didn't have anything to say the first time you met him? Do you remember what area you were when he arrived? It may be that I have an area check on this dialog and he appeared in the wrong spot. He should be able to talk to you outside, in the inn, in the theater, or in the temple (though I may need to verify the last two).

using the latest worldmap i could find 5.?
destination unreachable is only leaving the castle everywhere else works.
Are you saying that is normal trying to leave the castle?


first time i met Ascue was outside garrotton, at the north edge right where I appear coming in from the north, between the two buildings.

I do have at least two paths from the 'saved' point in the timeline several posts back, but I could always go back before meeting Fabio, if I have to.

The map bug may still be in the Tutu version but the BGT version of Worldmap 5 works just fine for me.

I will have to go back and review Ascue to see why he didn't talk to you. Was the PC invisible or anything? I don't think I check for that but it may be a factor.

Then I guess I'll just have to movetoarea out of the castle then, it appears to still be in the Tutu version.

No wasn't invisible, also are the orc gurads in the castle supposed to go hostile? (after being attacked for going a little to far towards the left stairs) they never did, the Orc Leutenants go hostile but the guards never do.

No, worldmap v5 doesn't fix the "unreachable destination" problem unfortunately :(

I still have not reached that part in my game actually, but i raised that problem with my old installation of BGT-zeta+...+SoB2.0+BGT worldmap v5

Not all of the orc guards will probably go hostile unless you have a fight going on near them. Even with Horred's new AI scripts, this seems to be the case. By the time you fight with the mayor, they would have all gone hostile though.

Nope, killed the person standing below the stairs on the left on the way out, which brought the mayor and her advisor out, they walked up to PC before doing anything, and none of the guards went hostile, unless I attack a guard specifically, the lieutenants go hostile on sight after that call for an attack but the regular guards do nothing.
IIRC the lieutenants are within sight of hte guards, but they don't go hostile.

Maybe I'll go back meet Fabio, try again, and be a little more surreptitious this time.

I have to assume that the shout commands the lieutenants use are ignored by the guards. I can't remember if this is intentional on my part or not. I changed quite a bit of this by adding Horred's scripts to the creatures. I may have to modify something. Please try it again and I will have to do the same.

I have Bone Hill Mod v2.02 installed over BGT100, BP-BGT Worldmap v5. "Destination unreachable" from castle problem is mine also. I also have Orc Guards never going hostile, while Orc Lieutenants do.
Anyone please tell me area name for Garrotten and Restenford, so I could teleport party there using console. Or even better, how do I look area name myself? :)

It's a bug in worldmap v.5, the new map (v6) is correct. You should CLUAConsole your self to BH2000 which is Garroten.

my bg2 directory is g:\bg2
so,open the file g:\bg2\BoneHill\Worldmap\areas.tbl,
any TXT editor can open that file include the area code.

I also have this problem. i have only been to Garrotten and the area south with the orcs. I returned to Garrotten and he shows up with an orc, but has nothing to say.

I was able to get the sequence to work correctly by altering the BHASCUE script and putting the StartDialog calls before the setGlobals (See below). It would not work otherwise, for me anyway.

Sorry for bringing this one up again, but it still seems not fixed...

I'm stuck in the 2nd part of the mod. I talked to all the 3 guys (Abraham, Balmorrow, Harmin) and to Oscar, cleared the lizard caves, clua'd to south Garotten (thanks Melkor for pointing out that Worldmap issue by the way ;) ), went back to Garotten and Ascue and his orc appear - but do nothing. I've been to the castle before, but only in the watchtowers, never inside (no talk to anyone).
I tried setting BHEscortSpawn to 1, as mentioned at the beginning of this thread, but it didn't work. Rather, he didn't show up at all then (just to make sure: the command is SetGlobal("BHEscortSpawn", "Global", 1), right?)

Any other ideas? mildImp's suggestion sounds pretty cool, but I have no idea how to do that...

Edit: Btw, with which command would I get the current value of this global? GetGlobal("BHEscortSpawn", "Global") did nothing

U must speak with the mistress in the castle ... then she tells u to go to Garroten, there u discover that Abraham, etc have been captured. Go back then to the castle and clear everyhing and rescue slaves :-)
