Hi,

after a long patient wait, i am thinking for another run throught the monster installation.

before doing that i wanted party ideas for the bg part and for the bg2 part. i know that people are playing with various and different downloaded or inbuilt npc's, so we will try to focus more on races and classes rather than names of npc's (although names would be nice too since downloads are just a click away after all).

let me start with my idea. this time i am thinking of going with a "pure-classed" party:

2 fighters, 1 druid, 1 cleric, 1 thief and 1 mage.

the only thing i might do is replace a priest with another mage, but i am too sure. will have to see what people say. also someone in the forums had once mentioned an all dwarves "theme" party and i had really liked that idea. the idea of "theme partys" sounds interesting in general.

thanks in advance
Amit

Hi!

Basically, you need a higher rate of fighters in Bg1 than in SoA.
I have the feeling that you don't need druid + cleric, I'd choose one of them.
One Mage is perfect for BG1 but in SoA or later in BG1 you should have more than that.

I personally prefer small parties = more XP :D

Right now I am doing a Druidic Sorcerer / Mystic of the Forest / Thief run, but I might dual Imoen to Mage when I reach SoA or later in BG1.

i used to think that too.. but with the monster installation exp is at such abundance that bigger parties are not a problem. the druidic sorcerer sounds really interesting.. maybe i'll try that.

thanks

I got my PC to a lvl 4 kensai and Imoen to a lvl 5 thief and I had just the two of them romping around south of pelvedale... I hadn't even spoken with Khalid and Jaheira yet! Now I got them in my party and took them hunting anklegs. Now it's PC lvl 5, imoen lvl 6 and KnJ are lvl 3/4 in each of their classes (I installed the Khalid fighter mage mod). On my way to Beregost, and then Nashkel.

I'm begining to think my party's a bit overpowered... maybe I'll restart and fill up a party right off the bat. Munchkining's fun, but when you're char can kill an ankleg in 2 hits right in the begining of the game, it gets kinda boring :P

yeah, that kinda thing has happened to me too. my last run thru the old fashioned "bp'ed" bg2, i took a party to watcher's keep before chapter 3 in soa and by the end of the keep, they surrounded demogorgon and killed him within the first round with whirlwind attacks. thats when i stopped that game. of course i had a bunch of munchkin item and store mods as well.

this is my main idea this time.. to have a party that wont get so overpowered. i also intend to refuse overpowered items and spells this time around.

Spells pretty... no wait, that was in Torment, in BG2 they look like sheep manuer.

I think the fact that I SK'ed my kensai to have str 19, dex 17, con 19, int 19, wis 15 and chr 17 might have something to do with my problems too :P

hmmm, str down to 15, dex to 16, con to 14, int at 18, chr at 17 (for the Saerileth mod :P)...

You can use DEF JAM V3 to help with this.

DEF JAM is really interesting. i think it will reduce xp much more than what Horred did by hand in the old and new BP. i definitely plan on using it this time. however i will really miss hearing that sweet sound of levelling up regularly :)
