I was discussing recently BG with my girlfriend, and she surprises me with a statement that all bhaalspawn, being born from a god, are essentially aasimars. My knowledge of outer planes is rather shallow, so I decided to ask those who might know better: did the fact that gods live on outer planes means that offspring of any god is technically an aasimar?

More like a tiefling, as Bhaal is arguably more like a demon than a celestial.

But in essence, she would be right, IF he wasn't a god.

Nope. The offspring of gods always act uniquely and have traits that don't have to have anything in common with other godspawn.

I always thought generic abilities for descendants of the planes was a bad idea. Why would a descendant of a solar have the same unique traits as the descedant of another prime celestial? Even treating two solars as the same kind of creatures is a bad idea from a roleplaying point of view, in my eyes.

Aasimar are descended from the offspring of mortals and Good outsiders: the outsider parent (e.g. Aasimon, Coutl, Eladrin or whatever) is always at least a grandparent. They have less than half outsider blood in them.

Bhaal wasn't a Good outsider (he was Lawful and Evil), and he was the PC's direct parent.
