BGT Xan and Kulyok's Xan use different death variables, and Xan doesn't appear in BG2, so they're fully compatible - i've played thru a full candlekeep-to-melissan game with BG1NPC Xan and BG2 Xan both installed withuot any (Xan-related ) problems.
