When i went to the castle in part 2 i wandered around and went into a forbidden area, some guards attacked me, but also the Lady (she runs the town) and her advisor came to join the battle.

I went upstairs, killed everyone, got the documents and picked up the prisoner to take back to the temple.

After going back to the temple in town and handing over the prisoner, i am told that the old man was taken and put into the cells for questioning, same with the bartender and the bard.

The castle is just as empty as i left it, the bard, old man, and bartender are nowhere to be found.

Can i fix this? cause i dont have any recent savegame, (last save is when i entered Baldur's gate for the first time.. I know, im an autosave whore :P)

Maybe spawning the woman and her advisor and setting some globals?

Hmmm, i had the same problem some time ago ... part 2 have a weird chance to be completed aven if you didn't do the right things.

I guess now you can just go to Pelltar now and say him that you've completed the tasks and he send back you to Candlekeep, you saved the prisoners and found the documents so you have everything to complete the quest with him. (you also should have the chance to say that you spoke with the priest even if you didn't ;) )

I definitely feel your pain. I think the entire design of the castle is terrible, to be honest. Apart from this I actually found part 2 quite well done but the castle is a trainwreck. You're told you can talk to the mayor but don't wander...except you have no idea where the mayor is so you need to wander.

The guards should just be posted at each area you can't go to and warn you off because as it is, it feels like a minefield where the alarm just randomly goes off.
