i've coded up Asc64's workaround for the BGT-Fixpack incompatibility for ease of installation. i've attached the fix to the bottom of this post, and with any luck TheWizard will work his magic and the fix will show up on the iegmc mirrors shortly as well.

the problem: the BG2 Fixpack alters a script block in AR0602.BCS to prevent players exploiting a failing in the script to keep their equipment in SOA. BGT also alters this same script block in order to manage the transition from BG1 to BG2; as a result, any game with both the fixpack and BGT installed (which should be all games with BGT installed) will hang during the starting cutscene of BG2.

the fix: a replace_bcs_block, taking the block as modified post-Fixpack install, and replacing it with the script blocks BGT needs. the side-effect of this is, yes, to retain the equipment exploit for BGT users. however, anyone who is stupid enough to stop the game during this cutscene is liable to cause all sorts of funky problems, and won't be getting any sympathy.

note:

1. this fix will be superceded in time by a new version of BGT that addresses this problem directly; until such time, you can use this to prevent the game-ending cutscene hang.

2. this fix is only for ppl who already have both the Fixpack and BGT installed. if yr doing a re-install or haven't yet installed BGT, you can download the attached BGT Fix files archive, and unzip it to yr BGT/Compat/BGT/Replace folder (overwriting files as necessary) and install BGT as per normal. in this case, you won't subsequently need to install the BGT-Fixpack Fix.

so, to repeat:

if you've got the BG2 Fixpack and BGT installed: download and install BGT_Fixpack.Fix.rar
if you haven't got BGT installed, or are re-installing: download BGT_fix_files.rar and unzip to yr BGT/Compat/BGT/Replace folder

Does the BGT Fixpack Beta 4 address this fix? Ie., if we're reinstalling BGT and using beta 4, do we still need to get the BGT_fix_files.rar, unpack and use it?

Thanks

This fix will be required for all combinations of BGT-WeiDU v1.01 and BG2 Fixpack version 'anything'. The fix will no longer be required when using BGT-WeiDU v1.02, which is yet to be released.

Just a little note, for those who (like me) didn't pay attention while performing a reinstall:

DO NOT USE THIS FIX if you aren't using the BG2 Fixpack!

"Well, duh!" you say.

Yes. I know. But it's worth saying, because I know someone will make the same mistake I did, which was to install NEJ-SOS-TDD-CTB-TS-ROT-BGT-DSotSC-NTotSC-SoBH, then test the install and have the cutscene hang because I used the fix files and didn't use the BG2 Fixpack (used the old BD-Weidu, which seems to work better with NEJv42-602).

This is the kind of thing that makes me disgruntled... with myself.

I've installed BGT with this fix, but I'm still having problems with the cutscene at the start of the BG2 part hanging. :(

I've tried 1) transitioning by ending the BG1 part normally by entering the Duchal Palace, and 2) exporting the character just before the transition and starting a new BG2 game and importing the character there.

The cutscene hangs just at the point where Imoen should appear. I'm wondering whether it would work to just reinstall BG2 from scratch, apply all the fixpacks/tweakpacks/etc. but to not install BGT and just import the character. Does anyone know whether that should (theoretically) work? (I'm playing with a solo mage, so it's no big deal that I can't take my party with me :))

My install order was BG1, BG1:ToSC, latest official patch, BG2, BG2:ToB, latest official patch, G3 Fixpack Beta4, BGT (using the replacement files from the fix) and finally the G3 Tweakpack (mostly just some rule changes, but also the shorter cutscenes).

I bet shorter cutscenes mess this up, IIRC it changes the starting game cutscene. Since BGT changes Imoen's deathvar there, the replacement cutscene won't work.

If you upload your NEWGAME.BCS (should be in override), I may try to fix it for you.

(Just in case, upload AR0602.BCS as well)

Just like I thought. Shorter cutscenes should be added to BGT incompatibility list.

Try this, should solve the problem.

I have the problem with a clean install:

// Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods
// The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod
// ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [Subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name
~BGT/SETUP-BGT.TP2~ #0 #0 // Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Core 1.02

attached my newgame and AR0602 bcs. I tried using the fix for 1.01 but it doesn'work either

No Minsc, no Jaheira and simply clocks

You should install BG2 Fixpack v1 1st, just after the 26498 Patch, and before BGT.

Thanks - I misread the post http://www.shsforums...showtopic=22224 .

it sounded like BGT should be installed before BG2Fixpack
