My nephews are pestering me to play WoW, but I would rather play the Mega Mod if I could just get it to work. I have now tried three installs, based on the pinned Mega Mod Install Guide, each one progressively simpler, and in all three BG1 starts up okay, but in BG2 no Imoen to free me. First time I would get RoT cutscene, Chores, Irenicus, and No Imoen. Second time I got RoT cutscene, No Chores, No Irenicus, and No Imoen. Third time I get Nothing.

I'm obviously being very stupid about something, but I don't see what. If someone could help me figure it out I would be most appreciative.

What follows is the WeiDU log of my most recent install. I will try a fourth time soon, but will hopefully get some suggestions before I do.

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

Just one little thing I was able to notice.

I don't see King Diamond's Baldurdash on the list (I am prone to mistakes though).

Baldurdash isn't mentioned in the Mega Mod Install Guide. I think it's functionality has largely been subsumed by the BG2 Fixpack v1, which was installed. I could try adding Baldurdash if you think it would help.

EDIT:

I just tried substituting the AR0602 file from the stickied Cutscene Fix thread above. I got RoT cutscene, No Chores, Irenicus, and Imoen. But I'm worried that the install is still kind of pooched due to the lack of the Chores scene. Can anyone tell me what else might be negatively affected if Chores is gone?

EDIT 2:

Well, I just tried Install #4 and it is pooched in exactly the same way as Install #3 (No RoT, No Chores, No Irenicus, No Imoen). The WeiDU log looks the same as the one above, which sort of makes sense since it is the same result.

Oh well. I'll try a couple more times from scratch before giving up on the Mega Mod. Suggestions are welcome.

KD's Baldurdash certainly has been superceded by th Fixpack - anyone who still uses baldurdash, of any vintage, will get no sympathy from me. but that's not the issue here.

the issue is a series of changes being made to AR0602.bcs (the script for the first level of Irenicus' dungeon) which are clearly mutually incompatible. my first guess would be the Fixpack and BGT 1.02. these two work together fine - but only, i thought, of BGT 1.02 was installed after the Fixpack, not before. i could be wrong about this though.

my next thought would be an incompatiblity, either undocumented or due to install order, between RoT and CtB. lots of ppl (but not me - i've never installed either) have installed both without any issues - but there might well be undocumented install order requirements here too.

my suggestion would be to do a fresh install, in the order of:
Fixpack
BGT
SoS
TDD
CtB and chores

and then test a new game that this works; then add the rest of the mods in yr install order in the way you've got them installed in that weidu.log. i'd be tempted to skip the RoT install tho - or if you've got the HDD space; make a copy of the install up to CtB, then install everything else without RoT - if it works, then go back to the backed up install and installing everything including RoT.

there's no good reason why the install yr trying to make doesn't work - so it should be solvable, and i'd be suggesting altering yr install order for best results.

Dennis, with the release of BG2 Fixpack v1 and BGT v1.02, BGT no longer needs to be installed 1st in order to make your AR0602.bcs be extended properly for your BG1-BG2 transition. I've updated the install guide and the WeiDUlog in the sticky up at the top to reflect that. I just started an new BG2 game with no issues. Irenicus Dungeon flashes briefly then fades to black, RoT cutscene, then Mr Happy appears to do his torture and teleports out, then Imoen appears and releases me. Recommend you use following order for your install and then give it a try.

BG2 Fixpack v1 (You don't need the BG2 Fixpack Fix stickied above if you use Fixpack v1 and Bgt v1.02)

SoS v1.11

TDD v1.11

CtB v1.08 (And don't install Chores. That's a godforsaken bore that's really not worth the innate's you gain, as well as tweaking your ar0602.bcs if you try to install the Fast Forward to get through it during the 1st week of game play.)

TS-BP v6.09

RoT v2.00 + Fix1 directly after

BGT v1.02

As seanas states, try starting a new game after each new major mods installation to verify the game starts correctly and all occurs as it should. Good luck, and don't worry about having to install several times to make it work. I think i've installed this almost a hundred times over the last year and a half working out bugs and wrinkles in the install orders. Feel free to come back any time with more questions.

Seanas and Erebusant -- Thank you for your suggestions. I now appear to have a working, base Mega Mod Install, and will experiment with adding a few minor mods to the mix.

Cheers
