i was wondering if people are actually using the DEFJAM mod, and if so what XP setting would you suggest? (assuming there is a mega install)

cheers

i use DEFJAM on every game i play. my usual settings are 10% traps and learn spells XP; 75% quest XP; 75% monster XP. it can make the start of BGT hard, but it means i finish BGT with ~180,000 XP (so mot much more than in BG1 ToTSC) and don't hit 3 million XP in BG2 (ie original BG2 XP limit) until i'm in Chapter 6.

can this patch be applied multiple times during one game without messing things up - i mean i first chose e.g. 50% creature XP, play a bit, change my mind, and can i now choose e.g. the 75% and still continue the same game without problems?

For use with BGT (BG1 part) I recommend :
- 10% locks and traps
- No XP for learning spells
- 75% XP creatures

Without any other mods for BG1, you will have about 161 000 XP at the end of the BG1 game (assuming you are playing with a 6-people team and using Tutu-6 leveled spawns from BGT-Tweaks), so you will be the most faithful to the original BG1 XP cap. :)

If you have to change anything in it make sure its the very last mod you have installed so your other mods dont uninstall and reinstall. I know its the day and age of weidu but installing and reinstalling mods does weird stuff sometimes.

sorry, this may be off topic but i have one more question - during installation of BG2 tweaks i got an error - when i was trying to install the component connected with item identification by innkeepers, the installer wouldn't install this componennt and there was a message that there was an error - the installer couldn't find or copy something (don't remember exactly), i had to leave this component out eventually, but i installed the rest of the components that i wanted without problems, and the rest of the mods too

so my question is this - has the problems with installation of this component messed everything up and it's better i install everything again? or can i go on to play the game?

i noticed that most mods have something like Backup folder - so it would seem like they backed changed files up in case there should be problems...

You can continue on in the game its just that component wont work (also not game breaking). I had that same error the other day also, but a fresh install solved it (i dont suggest another fresh install for you tho). The store it couldnt find and crapped out on started with m# (forgot to write down the exact error).

This error is what you got?

Copied [bmthief.sto] to [override/bmthief.sto]
Copying and patching 1 file ...

ERROR locating resource for 'COPY'
Resource [m#bmthi2.sto] not found in KEY file:
	[./chitin.key]
Stopping installation because of error.
ERROR: [cdstores.2da] -> [override] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("resource [m#bmthi2.sto] not found for 'COPY'"))
Stopping installation because of error.

I think thats amber's mod authors prefix but i didnt even have amber installed in this game. edit *** just checked and it is from the amber mod must have been left over from my previous game***

lookin in the debug file helps i suppose

if you change the defjam it will automatically uninstall and reinstall your world map with the options you installed it with.
