Here's where it gets flaky. The armor Valen was wearing was gone (can't remember the type). OK, I had other armor, I put it on him. Then I notice he's walking slow, I look at his stats, it looks like he's cursed, every ability is at 8. I tried Restorations, no good. I take off all his equipment, and put it back on, and have the drow cleric heal us at the temple, and he's good again. Until I go through a door to another section, then he's back being debilitated again.
Not sure what the heck is going on. HELP!!!
Is there some way to modify him or his stats. like as a DM or something?

About the slow movement rate, this is caused by Valen being in Search mode. It is cancelled when Valen attacks something. To be more precise, Valen will slowy go after his target, but really attacking it will cancel the search mode and Valen will be fast again... until he decides to go into Search mode another time. I don't know how to fix this, nor what is causing it (reloading seems to active this bug however). There is at least another recruitable NPC who has exactly the same problem.

I have often had the all-8 abilities score bug with some NPCs, even in the original campaign. It is solved by... saving and reloading.

What I've found will get rid of that is for you to put your PC into search mode, then move a bit, then leave search mode. Normally that gets any NPCs in the party out of active search mode too. The same usually applies for stealth.
Back from the brink.
Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".
These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

I went through many breastplates before working that one out...
If you want to permanently keep him out of search mode (switching in and out of it with your PC will require you to do it everytime you reload, and doesn't work for elves cos of keen senses) just ask him to change tactics and leave the traps alone.
