I can't get the program to work properly, it gives me the:

File C:\Program Files\BaldursGateTutu\save0000001-Quick-Save\BALDUR.SAV is invalid (unable to load file)

Any solutions?

The program can't open the file as read-write. Is it read-only? Is some other program using the file? Does the file exist?

Otherwise, could you attach your BALDUR.SAV file here?

Ah yes, there was some problem with the Vista user things... Anyway, I got the file opened with the fixer now, but it seems to have no difference, still crashes on loading. Here is the savegame.

Could you also post the textual contents of your WeiDU.log file?

Looks like there is still an issue with file permissions in Vista that doesn't let the utility fix the file. I ran the utility on the file and it fixed the error. I've attached the fixed SAV file.

Thanks, but it still isn't working... I also tried to do the same thing to another save through a friend, but still the same problem, even though the fixer did fix something according to the log. I guess it's hopeless.

Strange, can you give some details about the crash? Any error dialogues or reports?

No errors or anything. It just crashes to desktop almost immideately after I start loading the save.

So you mean there were no error messages, even from Windows?

No, nothing else but the "program not respoding" thing. The game crashes into a small black box on the desktop and has to be ended manually because it's not responding.

Well, you do know that the Vista also mirrors the original files from the Program Files, so you can't actually change them? <_<

I would suggest that you move the game to a none-Program Files directory to get rid of the Vista's program files mirroring, and then edit the baldur.ini to reflect the changes under the [Alias] header, and then just start the game from the BGMain.exe...

BWS - Standard = not imba. Tactical = stupid hard. Expert = broke.
In case the BG2 game crashes, open up the 'baldur.ini' in your game folder, and under the [Program Options] section in the file, make a new line and type in 'Logging On=1' (without the '' quotes, unless the line is already there)... Save the file and exit. Now go back into the game and try to reproduce the crash. Then look in your game folder again for the Baldur.err file and open it with the Notepad to analyze its contents, or let us do it.

Always post the contents of your baldur.err in the case of crashes. I seem to be repeating this like 5 times every time I log on here :P.

What the hell, this actually worked! Thanks!

Yeah, based on your reports, it looked like that Vista was still preventing the file contents from actually changing, even though the utility seemed to be working.

Also running vista and am unable to get the java program to fix the save file (saying it is invalid)
File is read-write and all that would be necessary for the application to see it. Not familiar with Java, so couldn't tell you what would be the issue. haha

Save file attached, I assume it'll work after the fix.

Might be another Vista quirk that I wouldn't know about. Anyway, I ran it through the utility. Try it now (rename txt to sav).

I've tested entering and leaving Beregost 3 times with my new character. But my game loads just fine and did not crash even once. I'm wondering if the beregost crash only happens when you first enter the town? or you may encoutner a crash EVERYTIME you enter or leave Beregost? thanks in advance. -Joao

edit: it seems the game may crash EVERYTIME you enter or leave Beregost. I had a backup file named Post Beregost which I made after leaving Beregost. Then I followed the note in EasyTutu that if you went out and saved after leaving Beregost, then loaded that save file again, and reenter Beregost with no problems, then it's bug-free. But what happened on my case was different, I saved after leaving Beregost, tested and loaded the save file and it was ok. Re-entered Beregost and no problems. Then when I thought everything's good. I loaded my file again after leaving Beregost and the game crashed. I ran the game again and loaded it once more then it was fine. Weird.

Yes, I think we've established the 'weird' bit about crashes for quite some time.
