Inspired by another thread at CoM. Tell us your party and where it's at.

My main one of Siril(A H-E Bard), just reached Neverwinter, so you got three guesses on my party configuration.

At the start with a Aasimar Paladin, because my PC isn't that good in running NWN2 :(
After an eternity away from you all, I've returned.

I got just until the end of Act I with my Aasimar Sorcerer - but that was/is on another computer, so I'm thinking about starting a new character. Warlock, most probably. ;)

Heh. My game is still on the store shelf, because my graphics card can't handle it.

/me snickers. I was just turning on my game last night and suddenly remembered my other characters.

I have a Sun Elf Mage named Tyrhel, worships Labeles Enoreth about to enter the ruins in the swamp to get the shard for Daeghun

I have a Human Warlock named Mayon, worships Bane. I'm thinking or redoing him and Tyrhel, because I really like him, and evil usually isn't my style. He just finished the Harvest Fair because my game ctd when I was about to leave for the swamp. It's why it's been so long playing NWN2.

And last night I started a ranger, Kellen, who's going to dual to a Cleric of Lurue. Half-Elf

Oh and Rixen Quickstep, my Hin Monk of Hoar. He's just entered the swamp.

So yeah, have yet to get far with anyone.

FPS?

The character I finished the original campaign with was a male moon elf called Valduil Amrunrosse. He was a Fighter 2/Wizard 8/Eldritch Knight 10, and worshipped Corellon Larethian.

I've been too busy with the toolset to get any other characters far into the game. I've started with a couple, but neither have got as far as Neverwinter yet. I have started playing with a couple of mods, Pool of Radiance Remastered and Tragedy in Tragidor. When I finish Tragedy I'll post a review. So far it's been rather good.

Third time in a full play-through. Currently in the middle of Act 1, but rl will have me there for a while, I am sure. :) First time through as a human fighter, second time as an elven sorcerer, third time as a sorcerer, also, but will go for a speciality when it becomes available, but haven't decided what.. Suggestions?

Saving playing for a special occasion. Have owned it for 2 years and plan to play once I finish this semester at uni.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOOHOO! What a Ride!

Some people are like slinkies. They are not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs!!

Quite fine. But if you're referring to the NWN game, perhaps that should have a topic as well.

For Spells, for Feats, or for Prestige Classes? There's some difficult choices with all of these, because there's a lot of good choices and you can't have everything. It also depends on what you intend your character to be doing. The default Qara is your typical sorceror who's stories end, "And then I blew them up" but there are other ways to do it. Good alternatives for a sorceror include being the party buffer with the enhancement spells (Bull' Strength, Heroism, Haste, etc.) which you can cast on most of the party as soon as you learn them; concentrating on Summoning spells and burying your enemies in bodies; or the enchantment specialist who doesn't have enemies, just people they haven't charmed yet :).

If you're looking for a good Prestige Class then something which keeps increasing your spellcasting is best.

Eldritch Knight isn't a bad choice. The requirements in the manual are wrong, you actually only need Martial Weapon Proficiency and 3rd level spells. You can take the proficiency as a feat, and a sorceror who doesn't cast 3rd level spells has other problems :). You lose one level of spellcasting (1st EK) but you get better hit points, a higher BAB and a good Fortitude save. It still isn't a good idea to go into melee as you can't match a fighter for hit points and especially armour, but it can be effective as I found with my character.

Harper Agent adds a few special abilities, but it's really hard to get into with a straight sorceror because you need 8 ranks in Diplomacy and that's a cross-class skill. Otherwise it's a good fit for your abilities as you only lose one level of spellcasting and you get plenty of skills and other benefits.

Pale Master is a pretty poor choice for any spellcaster, since you only add to your spellcasting every other level. It's not even a good choice for a multiclas warrior-mage type, as although the abilities you gain are quite useful you don't add many hit points and your BAB is poor. I really can't understand why it's in the game, except that it was in the first and probably isn't too hard to implement.

Arcane Trickster is a fun class, but it's really intended for someone who's a rogue first and spellcaster second. You have to have three levels of rogue minimum to get into it (unless you've gone down a very odd route), but if you do you'll get excellent spellcasting and useful abilities.

There's also Dragon Disciple, which isn't a spellcasting class at all, but which it's easy for a sorceror to get. It's a great class for survivability with high hit points, good saves, and all sorts of helpful bonuses. Without spellcasting though it's much more useful for someone who dips into Sorceror or Bard to meet the prerequisites but who's mostly some sort of warrior type.

This gives me an idea for a thread, ideas to improve a PC. Ways to beef-up your barbarian, make your sorceror supreme, get the trickiest thief. I might write something for it.

If you really want a good RDD build, here it is:

Bard 1
Fighter 9
RDD 10

The dragon disciple is a melee class, plain and simple.

And on topic, I'm playing through the game for my third time atm with a tiefling paladin (I love wierd race/class combinations :)), and have just started Act III.

I'd wanted to give my bard that class. So I tried to find a way of giving it to him without taking rogue levels. The NW9 PC grants a 2d6 sneak attack at 3rd level. I don't know however if it counts for the other class. Eventually I decided to stick with pure Bard for the extra song bonus.

It does. The other two classes you could pick up the sneak attack from are Blackguard (7 levels) and Shadow Thief of Amn (3 levels). The assassin has death attack, but it's not the same thing.
