I've yet to formulate an opinion on this game created by the IE community's very own JC and Weimer - some of what I see looks brilliant, other stuff... not so much. Regardless, it'll definitely be something I'll be playing! I especially look forward to being able to make mods for it! :)

Any opinions? Complaints? Oh-my-god-that-looks-awesomes? Post them here!

Complaint: no link to their site? Bad admin! No cookie! :P

Uh. Yeah. Anyway. It's hard to say much about it without there being an actual game to play, even with previews and such - an idea might sound good or bad, but in the end it depends on how it "feels" in the game. But given the people involved, I'd say there's a pretty good chance it's going to be teh kewl.

...I like the idea of item sets. Swapping off-hand/ranged weapons in BG is a pain. Especially with weapons that can be used both in-hand and be thrown (ADJDSKD STUPID FIRETOOTH)...

Waah, no cookies? :'( Oh well. I've been doing loads of cooking lately, so I'll have to make my own. *grumbles* Good point, though - thanks for the link vilkacis *grins*

Yeah, teh kewl indeed. :D

Definitely looks interesting, but I'll probably wait and see how it's reviewed first-NWN2 and Darian are keeping me plenty busy.

I love the look of the area graphics - not sure about the in-game avatars, they look a bit pixelated from the previews, but the graphics *do* look very pretty (which is a huge plus for me - I'm incredibly shallow games wise; I won't play something if it isn't pretty/hot).

I'm really interested in seeing more in-game dialogue content... the storyline seems to be intriguing, but without dialogue it's hard to say if it'll be worth buying or not. I'm incredibly critical of dialogue, and if something isn't quality... I find it really annoying. :P But from what I have seen of the writing of TBH's writers, I'm fairly sure I won't be disappointed. :)

The only complaint I have is that it put so many interesting mods on hold. :( Otherwise, though, it looks kinda neat. I'll be glad to see another game that looks more Baldur's Gate-ish, as I'm not fond of either NWN's graphics. Sure, NWN2 can be nice-looking, but my female PC is resigned to looking like a cow. <_<

Probably those screenshots were zoomed in - you'd be hard-pressed to guess what's what by looking at a natural-size BG2 sprite unless you're used to the game.
Also, I don't know how they were creating the sprites - but since they are on a budget, I guess they had to cut some corners (and sprites take a lot of time to do state-of-art).

I wish they'd give us more info on the characters joining you. Not necessarily every one(though I'd like it,) but more than just a bit of talk about a theoretically evil mage

Well, it's a delicate balance. Much of the fun in getting to know characters in a game like this is, after all, getting to know them in-game. But there are a fair few "first Mondays" left before release, so there will be more opportunities to introduce more character profiles. That said, we'll likely continue doing it the way we've been doing it thus far (Redethe's journal, overhead scuttlebutt about Sanelon, etc.) since I think that's more interesting than just putting up the nuts-and-bolts of the character.

Issues with sprite acquisition are ultimately very boring to talk about. I will say "It is very difficult to get excellent recolorable sprites on an independent RPG's budget" and try to leave it at that.

Journal? Hmm. I think I missed that.

And that would be why I missed it. Teehee. Economic reports. Go figure. It was the one and only thing from the setting section that I didn't read. Figured I'd just get bored. Teach me.

The game looks great - but why isn't there any forum to discuss it? I'm sure a very active forum accessible through Planewaker Games website would be a good way to increase awareness among RPGers - a few die-hard fans can very quickly spread the word on other RPG forums and bring in more users...

There is no forum yet because running an interactive community takes constant time and attention which right now is better spent on the game development itself, and because no gaming sites (to our knowledge) have seen fit to establish a discussion forum for it as they may for some other unpublished titles their users are interested in. We can't control that.

As far as spreading word, I certainly encourage anyone with even a passing interest in the game to sign up for the game's mailing list, which features weekly updates. Everybody is then of course welcome to pass that information on to others, as some already do.

We will eventually launch an official forum, probably shortly before release.
