If you are unfamiliar with play by post, it moves more slowly than a gaming session in your dining room.

Unfamiliar with play by post, and with real life sessions as well.
Hence I haven't a clue how to play :)

Playing is easy, just use your imagination. Would probably be good to play an easy class like fighter or thief if you have never played before. Us "oldtimers" can help ya out alot.

There's a column on the Wizards web site that's been talking about how to play for some time now. It's good if you're generating your first character.

http://www.wizards.c...x=dnd/arch/play is the link for the archive.

Once you actually start playing it's easy enough. The DM will describe what's happening and you simply need to post what your character is going to do in response. Once you start playing it's easy enough to pick up, and I'm sure the other players and berelinde as the DM will be happy to help you out. If there's something you want to know ask them, or ask around the forum and someone else will try to help. :D

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

This group is gentle on newcomers. You won't be expected to know everything at once, and the medium will allow you the time to look things up.

Both Bluenose and Ronin have the right of it: you just read the DM post and post what your character would do.

It's best to carry on conversation in character, but you'll pick that up quickly enough.

Once the forum is set up, I'll post links to character creation and gameplay tools, along with instructions on emailing dice rolls.

I would enjoy being apart of this too. Could be fun. *ponders of what kind of char she could inflict on this group*

Rogues and Clerics are very welcome. I'm kinda thinking that I'll go with the Wizard over the Cleric. (We'll see)

I would go with a VERY stubborn elven ranger that would give you all a headache at times. But she would be kind and loveable at the same time.

Ah. Well we'll see what B says. But really, I doubt she's likely to have a problem with it.

There's room for 8 or 9 players besides the DM. More than that, you'd never get around the corner. If igi decides to join, there party would be full.

Okay then. But if igi decides to not join, I will gladly fill the space.

If we go with 9, you could still fit in the party.

But that would definitely close it.

Check your PMs.

I have just finished school and therefore have returned to SHS.
I would absolutely LOVE to be a part of this campaign should there still be room for one more player. :whistling:
I would play a neutral evil assassin. Please let me know if there is room for me.

Many thanks!

Hello everyone!

I am new to SHS but have been trolling for some time now.
I too am very interested in taking part in this play-by-post campaign, if there is still available room.
If there is not, could someone please be so kind as to point me to one that still has rooms for players to join?

And me also (behind Altariel in the pecking order, of course). I love roleplaying so would be prepared to fill in any necessary gaps in a group's make-up :)

Unfortunately, I'm maxed out, and won't be starting another campaign at this time, but there's no reason someone else couldn't start one :) It certainly looks like there's the interest for it!

I would be intrested too, although I might be kinda out of the loop when it comes to the rules, but how needs them when chaos is on one side, the party or the monsters, I wouldn't care, I would still be on it's side.

There's a possibility that I might, potentially, start a freeform rp some time after I get back.

@SirK. I'm guessing a paladin? :D

You know, I might be able to coax SirBarneyDink into DMing a 2E campaign...
He's a tepid forum user, but an avid DM. Let me see what he has to say.

I'd be game for one as well. Been an awfully long time since I've been a player and not a DM (and I'm afraid I don't have the time to be DM for a campaign), though I'll sit behind the others in pecking order.
