Thank you for taking the time to post. I am glad to see you back over here - I think many who read the posts on ESF were shocked to find you felt yourself excluded, which just goes to show one shouldn't assume others are aware of their value to the community! As far as my name coming up over there, I have feeling a certain "p" word you used in those posts that I now see was most likely referring to yourself was felt by some to be referring to me. Silly internet misunderstandings! It is odd to me the lines that are drawn on that other board, and I mean even outside of the screenshooting thing. And yes, our poor Floydian1 is such a lightning rod for that! Difficult to be that talented *and* that uncomfortable with tons of attention.
I am glad to read that you feel this group is indeed a good environment. (I hope that is what you are saying!) I myself have had a bevy of unhealthy relationships in my own life, and understand the mistrust (in one's self & others) that lingers afterwards. There's just no way RL can not affect our online life. In fact, if someone were able to compartmentalize that well, I'd say they either needed some serious amounts of therapy or to become a spy a la Syndey Bristow in Alias. ) affects what I type. On the internet, where's there's no facial expressions (despite my love of emoticons, they aren't quite the same) or tone of voice, it's hard to tell if someone's just very very upset, having a horrible day, or really has decided he/she hates the person/thing/whatever he/she is talking about. One thing about moving to a more free environment that I think is a plus is the ability to converse about such things - to say, "Heads up everyone, I feel like crap today, sorry if I'm grumpy" or "I could use some extra hugs today". I'll say again - this move happened in an environment of turmoil and upset, and change is never easy - but I really really believe it is for the best. Not that the old thread should die a painful death - or any sort of death - but that here we can grow and expand in ways that the esf just isn't designed for. And there's thanks to you in that as well - if you hadn't voiced some complaints on esf, this thread & the (I think very good) ideas within it might not have ever come up, or not this quickly, at least. So all's well that ends well, really. greatfool1 - I actually like the siggy idea. Perhaps those still posting there could have something like "fan-run pictures forum" or "another great place to post piccies" - something not putting down the esf forum, but just pointing out there's another, free-er place to go.
