Both Screenshooting Guides from Shadow' and Divine Avenger, along with Other Useful Tips and Tricks with contributions from Floydian1, trollf, Badmagic, Gadar, Spike, and an ever-growing list of others, have been moved to a separate thread:

Click Here for Generating Faces in Oblivion: A Compilation of Guides, Tips and Tricks from the Community

Some Specific Posting Guidelines (in "addition" to all the ones Spellhold Studios already require)
Welcome! This thread encourages people's feedback about whatever is posted here. However, any criticism of presented screenies, character ideas, stories, etc., should be very specific and constructive. This kind of criticism is a great way for us to learn and improve our skills.

However, due to some extreme and abusive criticism around the time of our 50th (original) thread (which was thankfully cleared out by a moderator), it became necessary to post the following:

NO criticism should be directed at the PERSON - only at his or her WORK.

Also, whatever criticism is presented, it should NOT be negative in general terms - such as, "That screenie is really lame." This type of non-specific criticism only insults and does not provide any help whatsoever. Or even worse, this kind of criticism: "You are a silly man with a silly idea." If you really must say something negative to someone outside of this simple "code", keep it off this thread!

Another bottom line rule on this thread we have learned over time: If you find a post really offensive, REPORT IT AND IGNORE IT! The moderators know how to quickly deal with any such situation, and will remove any offensive posts, if they are actually offensive. Arguing or making demands regarding the post, invariably ends up worsening the situation, and can even result in all involved parties getting a warning.

Also, some posts can be too vague and subject to interpretation - so please word your posts very clearly to avoid any misunderstandings, especially if they are critical in nature.

Regarding receiving comments or not receiving comments to your post:
Comments are hit or miss on this very fast moving thread. This thread moves so FAST that it is hard for lots of us to comment on peeps' screenies. So many, if not most screenies may appear to go unnoticed, because no comments occur. I am sure many of us have worked hard on something, and it appears to just fly by the pages, because of this very popular thread. Many of us try to take time to comment because it is fun to give others feedback and generally seems appreciated. But often no one does. If you really feel like it always happens that your post is ignored, ask a question about it. Whenever you directly ask about something, it is almost always answered by someone. Or even repost it - and point something out about it that you like or want feedback on.

And the best way to get comments? Positively, constructively/specifically comment on others work too!

Alright! Glad that is out of the way. Have fun and thanks for your contribution to this thread!

(Written by greatfool1 with direction from other contributors to this thread. Please PM greatfool1 if you do not agree with any part(s) of this.)

P.S. Winner of the most frequently given tip to new screenshooters, and deserving to be mentioned in the op:
To get rid of the HUD (Menu), use the console command "~", then "TM" to Toggle Menu Off/On. :)

And the runner up may be: How to add a caption and get rid of ImageShack Ads/the Golden Frog, etc. Also, may be applicable for ridding other sites' ads.
One more: A short summary post of how to do an action screenshot.

New as of SHS Thread #1

A new feature, to the POOC Thread, is the attachment function for posting. Images up to 512kb can be attached in your post =)

Prior thread (#4) here

HP, I was going to ask this before - do you have decapitations set at 90% or something in Deadly Reflex?

At 100% actually, when I want to take bloody shots. 50% all other times. But many times it doesn't happen even at 100%, because they either block, or I miss, or it just doesn't happen. B)

Great action shots, heads flying around are always a plus and that dragon mount is quite nice.

I may have to give 1.9 a try.

Beautiful as always, what else can be said?

<SNIP>

I really like the watercolor one. I may have to try that on a few of my shots.

Keep them coming everyone!

Haha, I like your random shot. I could never use that house; it got too creepy having a necromancy altar in the basement :D Don't you find, though, that it's impossible to place sigil stones? You can't 'z' them once they've been dropped. At least, I can't in my game. Makes it pretty difficult to get them into position without knocking all the others off the table.

Well... not quite so appropriate now I changed it. Sorry, Jadikins. <3 <3

@kalia: Thanks for your comments on my pictures and on my, uh, comments (). As for your question, I assume you're talking about the "Ugh, what is that most foul stench" one? Well, I gave a rather angry-looking expression, had him perform the "Drugged 2" animation from the Actors in Madness mod,, and froze him right when he brought his hand close to his face. Then I positioned the camera at an angle that made it look like he was squeezing his nostrils shut with his hand (or was about to), as if he just whiffed a very nasty funk. As for the narrowed eyes, that was blind luck, made the shot when he was in the middle of blinking; I have no idea how to control them, but I did like the way they turned out.

@Soul Slayer: The "pair of friends enjoying the view" is very pretty, and depicts the appearance and feeling of dawn very well. I like the glinting light effects, the fog, and the silhoetted trees.

@Die 75: Ha! I knew you were a Maxx fan! I loved that comic and cartoon myself. As for your first character, he's really neat looking. You've managed to use the often sad-looking vanilla beards to surprisingly great effect, and the armor just looks great. What is it anyway? Battledress?

@PoPcOrN: That nude shot is pretty funny. She's got this sneaky expression as this dude bows down and worships her as she stands before him in all her glory. What evil task does she plan on doing?

@highpressure: The shot with the Black Axe is very cool. It fits the character very well, and I like the positioning of both people. and as for the pics in this topic, those swords are really sexy. Hmmm, I say the swords are sexy, but ignore the scantily-clad chick wielding them...Freudian slip?

@DS Divine: Only thing your missing in the "There goes goblin" pic are some blood effects, because it otherwise reminds me of a lot of anime scenes. "You call THAT a spanking" is pretty funny, and your Inferion shots are really stylish, especially that B&W one of him presiding before the flame thingy in the Oblivion tower.

@lemonio: Concerning your "etudes on a strung bow" series, dunno how you got the light to bhave that way in the original shot, but I like it; has a very mystical and dreamlike quality. As for your edited pics, the third and fifth ones down are the best, the former looking like an impressionist painting, and the latter portraying an interesting contrast between the bright cloudy sky, and the dark shadows on the character. And the edited ones in this topic show that you're improving in your use of filters.

@Floydian1: Heh, in the "girls go flying" pic, Jade looks like she's enormous, like she's about to go jumping off the tower she's standing on. As for what's in this topic, the Oblivion gate pics look awesome.

Here's something I wipped up just now, with a few (bad) action shots of me.

--The Gatekeeper--
I entered a strange door, to enter a strange world. The night skies were brighter, more vivid. Upon entering, a man asked me to get through The Gatekeeper. I thought he was kidding me, so I went ahead on the stone path, to come across an opening with a large monster in the middle. I guessed this was the Gatekeeper. Since it was night, I decided to be sneaky...
Over I went and found a nice warm sheath for one my two blades.
I jumped off, and got ready for an attack.
He waved his hand, and a great ball of magic appeared in his hand, turning the skies blood red.
So, I took my bow, and took aim
With a loosening of my fist, and the twang of the string, an arrow flew into it's heart, making him fly into the air.
"Some challenge..." I said, ripping out the Mania and Dementia keys from his flesh. "Which door will I take?"

Bravo, that was great Kimory! how did you get the gatekeeper to shoot flames? Was that whipped up in photoshop?

BTW, I"m probably embarrassing her now, but she's cute when she blushes :P everybody go check out Rumms' Oblivion sketches: http://www.shsforums...showtopic=26459 They're amazing!
