I made a small mod that adds one thing I think has always been missing in Oblivion - the ability for someone skilled in Illusion to actually... create an illusion. Basically, it summons a "Shade" (using the wraith model), an illusionary creature which is pretty easy to "kill" and can do no damage whatsoever, but serves nicely as a distraction (while brave Sir Robin runs away, away... *cough* sorry, had a Monty moment...).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew if this had been done before, or whether it's even worth releasing? Seems like the sort of thing an illusion using thief type might enjoy...

It may have been done before. It sounds like a great idea and a bunch of fun though! I'd like to see it!

"SIMPSON'S DID IT!" :D

I haven't heard of anyone putting out something like this but it sounds like a good idea to me...

I could. But that wasn't what I wanted to do. I wanted a "shadow" summoning spell. Anyway, it works as intended - the shadow just basically acts as a distraction... it attacks but does no damage at all, it can cast no spells, and it dies easy. I was just curious whether there was already a mod that did this, which would make a release silly, or if there was even any interest in it (which I tend to doubt, but I didn't think there'd be any interest in tabaxi, either, and look how that turned out...).

dies easily? if the shadow didn't take damage while it was conjured, that would be useful

While true, it goes against the spirit of the spell (no pun intended). The idea was that once attacked, it would be clear that the shade is a harmless illusion. If it took no damage, the spell would be too powerful (for what was intended) because the AI isn't good enough to stop attacking what it can't hurt, so you could basically throw up an invincible meat shield and safely pepper the enemies with spells, arrows, whatever, while they hacked in vain at the shade.

Of course, "dies easily" is relative. It has 100 health, so at low level, it survives long enough to give you a good running start if you're in a jam. At higher level, well... *shrug*

Yes, but those are Conjurations. The point was that I wanted an Illusion spell for this... :P

i feel geeky using a anime as an example, but what if u made a illusion spell that summons 3 of you that are like only 25% damage of urs, and take 300% more damage?
