I looked the item with Near Infinity, but I cannot find that effect. Is it really there?
I wanted to copy it to a custom item, but the spell itself should do.

It would depend on what patches/mods you have... it is *not* there in vanilla SOA/TOB. Ease of Use seems to fix it, but ironically Tactics/Improved Twisted Rune does not. But, last I checked this was when Tactics = Sola, so things could have changed since then.

Thank you, I began to seriously question my skills with IE.

EDIT: Apparently, Baldurdash fixed it long ago, but I hadn't had it installed. And thus I erred.

Thank you, I began to seriously question my skills with IE.

EDIT: Apparently, Baldurdash fixed it long ago, but I hadn't had it installed. And thus I erred.

One particular person at Ironworks (one of the BG2 gurus infact), often used to advise for any fight against the twisted rune, to handle the Vampire first, having cast Pro-Magic, then the Beholder, then the lich, and finally the fighter. And what of the mage ?? She would eventually summon a Pit Fiend who would proceed to kill her. At the same time, he was constantly advising people to run the Official Patch followed by the Baldurdash fixpack when they ran into bugs, or asked what needed to be installed. (for the record, he still does.)
This tells us that in his game, the Staff of the Magi Pro-Evil didn`t work properly, and he had Baldurdashed his game. This was definately since the last version of the Fixpack was put up, because this was about when home.net shut down, Kevin Dorner was repeatedly reported as missing, and m-l.org/baldurdash came into existance (followed shortly, ofcourse, by members.rogers.com/mrkevvy).
This would indicate that Baldurdash doesn`t always fix that particular bug... I guess either noone thought of that at the time, or else anyone who did had forgotten about it when Kevin re-appeared... *goes to the Baldurdash board*.

Or the creature file just didn't have it applied because in it's "saved" state the PfE hadn't been on the item (i.e. When BioWare equipped the staff). Sort of like what'd happen if you had a staff equipped in a saved game, then edited to item to have Invisibility while equipped. Your character would need to re-equip the item to become invisible, and I think the same goes for the Protection from Evil effect.

That said, I'm not sure whether the fix exists in Baldurdash. :) Kevin Dorner seems the type thorough enough to have done it though, seeing as how well known this particular bug is.

He advised that tactic over the time difference between when Kevin Dorner disapeared, and when WeiDU became common knowledge... in that time, I`m fairly sure he played atleast 2 games to the end of SOA, and atleast one (probably both) of those through TOB aswell.
Or would the Staff not be re-equipped on Layeen unless the cre is overriden ??

You can always check on the staff by using any editor programs available, for example IEEP. Simply take a look at it if it truly has the effect or not.
