[zookeeper]

I have a saved copy of the game prior to BP install, and this has no problems with slowdown at the beginning of the game. After installing BP, movement, etc., becomes very stuttery. Can anyone point out a conflict between BP and other mods I have installed? Thanks a lot ...

Steve, thanks for your reply. I did a complete reinstall, leaving out the BETA core fixes, but am still having the problem, again, only AFTER installing BP. Any other ideas out there?

One last hopeful call for help/ideas before I start a game without BP. Just FYI, I have read probably every thread concerning stutter/lag, and none of the solutions offered helps in this case. I didn't find a case like this one either, where a newly started game (in chateau irenicus, nothing in inventory) stutters only after installing BP; prior to BP install there are no problems. Replacing the baldur.bcs file with versions created by erebusant and Himself didn't work either. I'm completely at a loss.

What hardware are you running?

Dual G4 867 mac, 1GB RAM, OS 10.4. I doubt the hardware is an issue, though, because the game runs fine prior to the BP install, even with the other mega mods installed (CtB, TDD, SoS).

- be sure to do complete, fresh re-install of BG2
- since you're a n00b: please do not use a previous save game when testing the following
- Do not install 'Super Happy Fun Lucky Modder Pack' or 'BETA Core Fixes'

OK, will try this, duplicating my BG directory before I install BP to be able to compare performance pre- and post-BP. I'm not very hopeful about BP at this point, but if this install order works for the rest of it I'll eventually play with that.

Edit: Ajoc is not installing properly in that order, giving me a bunch of parse errors. Perhaps because it's an "add-on" to TDD, which isn't installed yet.

Well, looks like I'll be doing without the BP AI. The other components of BP don't cause the stutter. Installing the game in the order you suggested, Azazello, looks to be fine, but then my previous order had no difficulties aside from the BP stutter either (well, except for mismatched blocks when installing BP, which thanks to erebusant I know how to fix).

If you have a NVidia graphics card make sure the 3D Acceleration option is off.

Thanks Steve and Az .. 3D accel is off, but again that wouldn't explain the stutter only after BP install. I did move Ajoc to install after TDD, and it worked fine. I think the install order at this point is rather irrelevant, since installing core BP right after Fixpack causes stutter, even in the absence of ANY other mods. I just won't use the BP AI .. a bummer, but not the end of the world.
