Could some kind person that knows how, tell me how to merge items, I would like to be able to have my character wear two seperate items that take up the same slot.

It is pretty simple. Just open the items you want to merge in Nifskope. You need all the items open in separate wendows then just start copying and pasting one into the other. You may also need to copy bone nodes from one to the other if both items use different bones.

Two more things that may help.
When you paste always make sure you have the root node selected. It is the one at that top.
When copying something that has a plus next to it use "copy branch" to make sure you get all the stuff attached to it.
