Well, I finished my Mega-Mod install with the updated Mods, and so far so good   .   One thing I'm trying different is that i'm using the full tactics mod.  I chose not to install those components in the Big Picture and used the Tactics instead.   All i've got to say is i'm not sure what the difference is, but is it     :crying:    :o  :(    HARD!  I mean i'm getting my butt handed to me starting off in I's dungeon and then N's Keep.  I'm using my character from the Mega-Mod BG1, which is of course more powerful than the vanilla BG1 character.  Was there a major update in Tactics since Horred incorported it?  I've actually had to turn down the difficulty level, and do some actual thinking about each character's ability in order to win most battles, even then only after multiple reloads.  NOTE: I am getting better, and even though I hate losing, it has been a humbling experience to bring me back to the basics after all these years.

I don't use tactics myself but from what I understand of it what you're experiencing is what it was created to do.... that is make you use tactics to win not just be so powerfull that you smash everything in your path :) Tactics upgrades both the monsters you meet and their AI's to make the encounters much more challenging. Sounds to me like it's working as it should lol best of luck!

Ok, having played for about a week, i'm have to say that i've been pleasantly surprised how stable my game seems so far.   That said, and I know that it was mentioned before, but my gosh are there uber powerful items.  Potions to raise stats into the 20's, armor and items too bring your AC to -20+, weapons that do up to 4d12 + fire, cold, electric, magic damage (so far), etc...  :o ! I been DnDing since about '78, and we all went through the Monty Hall phase.  I unfortunately also know that a mods major content can not be changed without the author giving permission.  I remember in the original BG2 looking forward to piece'n together the uber weapon Crom Faeyr, but it now pales in comparison to ones I found at the beginning of the game.  I have tried to stay away from becoming too powerful to fast, but the "Precious" is calling, and the weight is becoming unbearable, where is Master Samwise when we needs him?  In addition I keep my difficulty at INSANE    this helps balance things out so that I still get my butt kicked.  But will I want to downgrade to Crom Faeyr later...thats scary   :crying: "Nuff Said" i still appreciate all the work that goes into creating a mod, having done so with pen and paper way for years, and anyway its the story that counts in the long run.

I love Tactics, and it can be really frustrating towards the start of the game - I prefer to play with another Improved Ilyich mod to the Tactics' version, though.

As for the large numbers of ueber-items, there is Zyraen's Miscellany mod which allows you to nerf the various weapons and items so that you don't get too powerful - there's even a component to halve your THACO and damage etc. - I'm not sure if the item-altering component affects all items from mods, but I think it must affect at least some of them - you should, in any case, install it after any item-mods. Best of all, this component nerfs Crom Faeyr, the Daystar and the cloak of mirroring/cloak of cheese - with those 3 items I'm usually able to just waltz through the game in most non-Tactics-mod-related battles, so it's good to have an option to have them reduced in effectiveness.

Thank you, i'll have to check that mod out.  My sons friends want to play but I am very reluctant to mod his BG2 beyond any scripting.  This may bring hope of them able to experience a mega-mod game without having to deal with burden of avoiding the uber character, or succumbing to the evil of the precious(s)   :whistling: .
