I'm having a few problems during the spy quest. It seems to be that a number of triggers aren't working, or something like that. I've talked to Winthrop to initiate the quest, but when I re-enter his Inn, the ranger isn't there, the fighters aren't in the warehouse, the Mayor isn't in the town hall, Charlie and Ceeb are there but don't say anything relevant to the quest, and when I try talking to the Major for some more clues, I get the "Major has nothing to say to you message".

This mod isn't really my cup of tea, but I'd been enjoying it so far, and then I meet this practically game-destroying bug. What's really annoying is that I can't just forget it and leave Soubar, because the bastards still have all my equipment!

The mods I have installed are SOS, Ascenscion and Gibberlings 3 Anniversary Mod. All up to the latest versions. My best guess is that it's some sort of conflict with Ascension, if so, can someone tell me what Global Variable I need to enter in ShadowKeeper to complete the quest, or something like that? Or how I can use CLUAConsole to make the ranger, fighters etc spawn where they should be.

Thankyou fellas.

I hope you didn't give those goofballs your scroll cases or bags of holding! You will never see them again! Maybe that's been fixed. Anyway that Soubar bloody spy thing got me in a tiff too.
1.Try and do a reload before you talk to any of those clowns.
2.You must have the walkthrough at the top of this forum in hand if not memorised. Or print the section with this quest. There are only two different ways I think to do the quest and if you goof up the sequence, you are stuck in Twilight Zone Soubar and with purple gear!
3. if a reload is not possible at this time before you talk to them then read this. It will spoil the suspense, but who cares right? You'll get your gear back :shifty:
Hope that will solve it

Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately, the solutions don't seem to have worked.

I'm usually good at keeping save files, but for no good reason, I had a save clear out after having started the spy quest but before realising it was rubbish. I tried the SetGlobal, didn't work, also tried entering the same Globals via Shadowkeeper, which made the Major talk to me again, but now I get the "has nothing to say to you" when I confront Ceeb! What on Earth is going on here? After entering

SetGlobal("CbPartyInvestigatesLeads","GLOBAL",4) and
SetGlobal("CbSpyIs_Miller","GLOBAL",1)

what do I actually have to do? I thought talk to Ceeb was the obvious answer, but he just blanks me. :(

And no, I didn't let the bastards have my bag of holding. I'm not entirely sure why I let them have the rest of my stuff instead of stashing it somewhere, I guess I just thought I'd better go along with the role playing.

Try entering these three globals in the game, not via ShadowKeeper, when doing the spy mission.
SetGlobal("CbSpyIsNotSSC","GLOBAL",1)
SetGlobal("CbPartyInvestigatesLeads","GLOBAL",4)
SetGlobal("CbSpyIs_Miller","GLOBAL",1)

The first one may be redundant but it worked for me a while back. After those, go to Ceeb, kick his arse, Rolf does his in and out thing, then report to the mayor I believe. It has been a while since I played so talk to the mayor first, then the major or it is the major then the mayor. That should get you to open the quest for Lyrar's Hold.

When you talk to Ceeb after he is the spy are their any dialog options? I think he will just start a new dialog and be pissed. Combat will ensue.

Aye, those were what I entered, only this time when I did it, I went to talk to Ceeb after entering them, and he just had the usual dialogue. ("I'm not surprised to see you here" etc.)

For some reason it's just not acknowledging him as the Spy. Any other help you can offer would be hugely appreciated, as SOS was the last thing I was going to do before moving on to ToB. :(

That should be the dialog from what I remember. Does he go into a long dialog where he is mad? I have a pretty big megainstall and I haven't touched any of the Soubar things yet so it may take me some time playing and looking at globals from various saves.

Hold on a second, after those globals talk to the major or mayor. You should have found the spy by the globals you entered then that may tell you to go after him resulting in a new global. Then talk to Ceeb. Try that.

I talked to the Major and he said "any luck finding the spy", to which my only possible reply was "no". The Mayor gave the old "nothing to say to you" message. It's getting a bit daft now.

Try CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("cbceeb01") and see what he says
There are two other Ceebs that I guees arre the early ones you meet . You can try them too if the first one doesn't work. CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("cbisson1") or ("cbisson2")

With ShadowKeeper, look up the mayor's name and see if there is more than one. I can't remember his name or just tell me and I'll look. Try the ceebs and see if that works

I get "Error File Ceeb1 does not exist"

I started experimenting, and I get the same message for every creature I try to create. Is my game just buggered?

Woops I have CtB installed so I think that is the first one. After entering your critical globals go to Ceeb and see what he says. Then try wailing on him. I don't think this was ever a bug but it is one quest that can't be completed unless it is done right. It even said that in walkthrough and boy did it give me a headache when I played it the first time.
Try the wailing technique and if that fails there is the possibility that your install got messed up
BTW the ranger should have spawned after you talk to Winthrop but only after you leave the inn and go back in.
