As the title says, I'm looking for a romance theme. This is for my NPC Morgane, a human Diviner of mysterious origin and enigmatic manner.

The style I'm looking for is reminiscent of classic romanticism with a hint of the gothic. Thoughtful, poignant and haunting, without being outright elegiac. I already have some candidates, the problem is they're copyrighted. This theme is almost exactly right, but (a) copyrighted, (b) somewhat flat (it doesn't fill space very well) and © there's one jarring percussion sound in it. So I'm still looking for alternatives.

This is a non-commercial project, so I'd prefer something available for free. Still, if I get exactly what I want I'd be willing to divert some bucks from my books budget ;).

EDIT: Possibly I'll be offline for 3 days from now and unable to answer.

This request is fine as it is, of course, but we would still prefer people to use our requesting forms when they apply. We have a form for music themes, as well, so it would be great if you could fill it and add it here so that everything comes clear. :) Thank you! Good luck with the theme hunting. ;)

And, just out of curiosity, my dear, what *are* you wearing? :D - Tempest to me.

All right, here's the form. I was in a hurry when I posted my request and didn't pay attention to the pinned threads.... The details of what I'm looking for:

1. How many songs do you need?

One.

2. Approximate lenght of the songs?

Two to three minutes.

3. What kind of songs - character themes, romance themes, battle songs, or something else?

A romance theme for a character / a character theme

4. Describe in detail the athmosphere, the style and the instruments you would like to be used, and any other possible preferences.

The style I'm looking for is reminiscent of classic romanticism with a hint of the gothic. Thoughtful, poignant and haunting, without being outright elegiac. I already have some candidates, the problem is they're copyrighted. This theme is almost exactly right, but (1) copyrighted, (2) somewhat flat (it doesn't fill space very well) and (3) there's one jarring percussion sound in it. So I'm still looking for alternatives.

I prefer classic instrumentation, it should sound as non-electronic as possible. Otherwise, anything that carries the mood is OK.

5. Preferred format of the files?

mp3 or ogg (anything else I can easily convert to mp3 or ogg works as well, but I don't know sound file formats well, so I can't say what else qualifies)

6. Any deadlines?

No fixed deadlines, but it would be nice to continue work on my mod with the theme as an inspiration. But I'd rather have a good theme that took its time.

7. What game and what mod is this for?

This is for my NPC Morgane, an NPC/romance mod for Baldur's Gate 2

8. Anything else you'd like to mention?

This is a non-commercial project, so I'd prefer something available for free. Still, if I get exactly what I want I'd be willing to divert some bucks from my books budget.

My equipment is disconnected at the moment while I re-floor my bedroom however, it should be back up in a day or so...I could give it a try if you like.

I've had a look at your music pages. Your themes are really nice... I particularly like the "Main Theme" and the Iylos theme (though Morgane's would be very different)....and if you would like to try your hand at this one, go for it. There's only one catch: your soundtracks tend to sound too electronic. The synthetic origin is very much noticeable, particularly in the higher piano sounds and some of the strings parts. It's probably a matter of equipment - most of your pieces sound like they would profit quite a lot from better equipment (or better samples for your synthesizer - I don't know what you're using). Unfortunately, that aspect spoils much of the mood for me. Still, I'm curious about what you'd come up with...Perhaps you could give me an example of how the woodwinds from your equipment sound...

My synth is connected by a single cable that transfers all my sounds via USB. It's not the best but it gets it done.

I used Soundforge for all of my recording and editing.

Yeah for now, I don't exactly have a live orchestra in my bedroom but I'll see what I can come up with for you. :)

EDIT: Also, when I'm done, which you like me to PM you with the music or post it here?
