I've been trying to add effects to creatures for a while. After several unsuccesful to do it with weidu, I decided to get it to work at least with DTLCEP, and of course with zero result. I looked how other mods add effects to creatures, and there's no big difference from adding effetcs to itm or spl. Right now I'm trying to add permanent fire shield to great mummy (don't ask why=)). I open the spell with DTLCEP, save damage effect as a separate effect, load mumgre01.cre, add saved effect, change duration to permanent and save it. Still doesn't work. Any clue?

You'll need to make an external EFF file containing a HP: Damage effect with the amount and damagetype you want, then add an effect to the creature's Effects tabs that references it in the fashion depicted below:
fireshield.jpg

[EDIT]Or, rather, that's the effect you'll need to have another creature take damage on hitting the mummies. You'll want the rest, but with the durations changed to "permanent", in order to make them actually look and behave like they have Fireshield. O.o

[EDIT]And I just realized I might be mistaken about using the EFF file; you might need another SPL to do this, but that should be simple enough.

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

isn't it what I did? I copied effect "cast spell on creature" from spell "fire shield" to a creature.

You said you copied a damage effect. I'd have to take a look at it for you; feel free to email me (I *think* my address is visible now, if not it will be by the time you read this). It may be a few days though.

I did more or less the same thing for an item a while ago and it worked, as I recall.

item is way another thing. I'll mail you .cre, but no earlier then tomorrow - I don't have the file with me and don't have internet access at home. You can rather check it yourself - takes 1 minute.

how incredibly stupid.. For convenience I used Protection From Undead scroll om PC prior to summoning a mummy - for it not attacking me. This was the root of the problem.
