The Mage Trio needs a spooky-but-grand ballroom. Specifics:

1. What type of area artwork are you requesting: Indoor or Outdoor?

Indoor.

2. Specifically what type of area - city, dungeon, forest, something else?
Something else--it's in a demiplane. Dungeon lighting would probably come closest.

3. Size of area artwork requested? (Remember that the game has size limitations.)

A large room. Needs to hold about 12 people plus room for a fight.

4. Where in the game will this area occur and which areas will it link?

In a separate demiplane, will link to the demiplane.

5. Should the area artwork have both night and day versions? (The artist will essentially have to create the area twice - think hard if you really need both)

Just needs the one lighting.

6. Describe your vision of the area in detail! Give some backstory to the area, the intended use, a sketch of the intended area artwork...

Basically, to all appearances, it is a large ballroom with room for 12 couples to dance (and for a fight). It ought to be beautiful, but it is also somehow, wrong--the coloring is off, or the angles. It's oddly shadowy for the number of candles there are in the room. It's a demonic ballroom.

The background music is a twisted version of a waltz (provided by theafeces). If listening will inspire you, I'll send the clip :) ('tis good).

7. Will the artist have some freedom to compose the area, or should the request parameters be followed to the letter?

The artist has all kinds of freedom. :)

8. Are there any special features you need? (for example a statue that opens to reveal a secret passageway etc.)

Nope.

9. Any deadlines?

Soonish. A month? Two?

10. What game and what mod is this for?

BG2, the Mage Trio.

11. Anything else you'd like to mention?

Cuv did some initial work on it, but is unable to finish. Anyone is welcome to use the area he started to use as a basis--he has given permission & will attach it below. If you'd rather use another area, that's fine, too.

Here is the template that I was using. It is from several areas combined from BGI (Iron Throne areas). The floor has been cleared, one stairwell removed. Altered the table and the statues a bit. Feel free to use it as Bookwyrm says

I can do this fairly quickly but.... there's a long list of questions.

Where do the stairs go to? The other part of the demiplane?
Is the movement between areas scripted i.e. uses the LUA commands or is it a 'real' doorway?
If it's a real doorway, what are the area designations for both this area and the other part of the demiplane?
Again, if it's a real doorway, what's the entrance name in the other part of the demiplane?
If it's a LUA command, what is the name of the script?
Are there any other doorways on the southside wall?
If so, see all questions above! :)

The real problem with creating areas is getting all of the connections to all of the related (joined) areas around it so that it works when 'plugged in'.

Actually, I think Cuv was planning on taking them out. There's no real plan for them.

It's supposed to be a real doorway.

I'll have to get back to you on the area designations.

Are there any other doorways on the southside wall?

No.

Ah! Where is the doorway to be? Is it a hidden door or a 'real' one?

It should be a real door.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you--the door should open onto an area named tmwalk.

No problem. I still need the following answers though please:

1. What is the name of the entrance in tmwalk that this area leads to?
2. If you can move backwards and forwards between tmwalk and this area, then at the very least I need the are, wed and tis files from tmwalk so that I can link the two areas. Unless you are linking by script in the tp2 file?

I'm making tmwalk, so I'll answer these questions, heh... :)

1) It will be named "tmwen1"
2) the area itself isn't done yet - I haven't had time to put it together in 3dsmax. If needed, we'll patch it into the tp2, if we can't figure out how to link them ourselves... :)

Thank you so much for all your work! :D

Beautiful!

I love the harp, standing there & glowing in its corner.

I can't tell, though, because of the angle, what is in the left back?

It's an empty table - empty, that is, apart from two candlabras. I deliberately left it empty although I can put something on it, if you wish?

It would help if I finished the harp shadow too - gah!

Here you go.

[Link removed]

K'ae - the exit is called 'travtmwalk' and the entrance is 'exittmwalk'. The zipfile contains everything - WIP and all. The area was made in DLTCEP, so if anyone needs to modify/rebuild it, all of the wallgroup definitions are in the polys folder. Please let me know when it's retrieved so I can clean it off the server.... my website space etc. is given to me FOC by a friend, so I prefer to keep the place clean so as not to upset him!

I guess I really should finish Cuv's areas now..... sorry Cuv.
