Oh my GOD!! Has anyone else had the problem that, just about every time you try and sleep, you get woken up by some animal or monster? I'm all for a good wandering monster, but if it happens five or TEN times in a row, that gets tedious and annoying. I'm still in the Sunless Citidel, so hopefully this won't occur in other areas.

Err...no?

I admit I found that the frequency of this sort of thing happening in CA feels a lot more frequent than in BG, but then, camping out in dungeons in BG never did seem as dangerous a prospect as it should have been.
"What do you do when there is an evil that your justice cannot defeat? Do you continue as you are, and allow the evil to fester? Or do you embrace one evil to defeat an evil greater still?"

"I used to dislike the idea of an unfair universe. Then I got to thinking: what if we did deserve all the awful things that happened to us, and didn't deserve any of the good? Suddenly, I found myself taking comfort in the thought of an inherently hostile and unfair universe."

In the Citadel, it is supposed to be full of wandering monsters, you are trying to investigate about the blight twigs. I think there are a few designated areas where you can rest without being interrupted. What about the place with the kubolks?

Everything in these areas are based on random percentages. Your game is either stuck in a cycle of high numbers (usually my luck also) or you are in one of the areas besides near the kobolds. That area has the lowest chance of wandering monsters. However, I still can get 3 or 4 in a row before I get a chance to sleep (and other times resting on the first try).

Don't you know what the true heroes say: "Sorry, too busy, I can rest when I am dead."

By the way, I nwever really anymore rest in the games, I'll usually just find a better way of doing things, and when I do rest, I do it for the experiance gained from the monsters, not so that I would need the spells. ^_^

Is there an indication given that one area is safer to rest in than others? I'm in the Citadel, and going into small rooms and closing the doors, but I've been woken up nonstop 20 times now. Plenty of experience and low level loot, sure, but I need to refresh my spells! Where are these designated areas you mention?

Rest Interrupts are settings stored in the whole area file. Closing doors or sleeping in a corner do not modify the percentage chance of an encounter. For the percent chance in these areas:

Area Day Night Area Description
TC0012 50 5 Stairs going up and out of dungeon
TC0013 10 10 Kobold territory/Meepo/Dragon Priest
TC0014 70 70 Goblin territory/rats
TC0015 10 10 Belak/Lava Worms/Blights

As you can see, only the goblin area should be a problem. I know that the game has a problem with doing random creatures. There is something wrong with the game in that you can get 3 encounters in a row with only a 10% chance on each one. The same randomness seems to be related to how the game creates spawn areas for wandering monsters. I have some areas that will 100% spawn a creature and other areas that never seem to spawn anything.

For version 0.54, I am working on giving Meepo a dialog option to watch over you during rest. This will only happen after you successfully complete his quest and he is not part of your group anymore.

Well, I managed to rest, finally, in Meepo's area, with the friendly kobolds. They woke me up the first time and said "We're watching you! Don't get into trouble!", but the second time I was able to get some much-needed shut-eye.

If you do get that Meepo option going, I'd be glad. Enjoying the mod otherwise.

on charnaas route for chapter 1, absolute 100% rest failure anywhere but the city map. was reliably ambushed about 50 times in a row on several different maps.

don't know if this helps/changes anything, but running a win7 x64 i7 rig, no mods except the latest widescreen.
