Cannot travel to Garrotten

It is the second time I travel to this charming island and I am still unable to go south of the Temple area. Must use CLUAConsole to access areas BH2000, BH2100, BH2200 and BH2300.

Wonder if there is a dialog or a subquest that opens the road to Garrotten.

U can access those AREAS ONLY when u play the 2nd part of the mod (so after u finished your journey back to Candlekeep in BG1 game). I guess went there for the first time to help Pelltar discovering about bandits, correct?

Just play the first part ... i won't spoil u anything else, but u will have the chance LATER in the game to reach to areas and go on with Bonehill 2nd part :-)

It is indeed the second time I travel to the island; I have enjoyed the quests and found nice items. Now, answering Fabio's plea while leaving Candlekeep. I expected to be able to go south without any delay after speaking to Pelltar but no. Only two other characters I have meet (Falco and a half-elf farmer) seems to have a said about the quest. Am I missing something?

While it is not a big concern to have to use CLUA I would not like to break the storyline.

I was able to travel using CLUA and everything seems OK up to now.


Strange indeed so ... i DID have just an issue (it's a bug with the Worldmap) for a Bonehill area, look here.

If Fabio is not with Pelltar when he talks to you after being summoned from Candlekeep, the dialog doesn't finish and worldmap doesn't update nor do you get the three items for evidence. When the party enters before Pelltar and there is no Fabio, just CreateCreature("bhfabio8") which is one of the Fabio's and has 89000 XP(estimate) and initiate Pelltar conversation. Everything worked according to plan.
Hope that helps anybody that has this issue. If Fabio is there and dialogs are OK then that may be a different error.

I don't get this one Hoppy. After being summoned from Candlekeep Fabio IS NOT in your party but it's there ... he THEN joins u after Pelltar speech ...

Yeah you are right melkor morgoth75, he should summon you from Candlekeep to Restenford and in the Pelltar dialog, Fabio should interject towards the end and you get the items, updated Worldmap and then he asks to join you. (that is the only way that has worked for me) The first time I played it, I did the whole mod from the Chapter7 Candlekeep when the party goes there (I did all the quests from the beginning; not very challenging and wouldn't recommend it).

This time I played it like it should and when the party is in Restenford the 2nd time, I knew what should happen and Fabio didn't say his bit about the bard. Pelltar's dialog ended abruptly without Fabio present. For Bonehill part 1, this time, I recruited Fabio as a member. Perhaps having him in the party the first time affected him appearing for part 2 because I left him in one of the Restenford pubs.

I just added this option iin case others are having problems with the new areas updating for the last part of Bonehill. :cheers:

Yeah you are right melkor morgoth75, he should summon you from Candlekeep to Restenford and in the Pelltar dialog, Fabio should interject towards the end and you get the items, updated Worldmap and then he asks to join you. (that is the only way that has worked for me) The first time I played it, I did the whole mod from the Chapter7 Candlekeep when the party goes there (I did all the quests from the beginning; not very challenging and wouldn't recommend it).

This time I played it like it should and when the party is in Restenford the 2nd time, I knew what should happen and Fabio didn't say his bit about the bard. Pelltar's dialog ended abruptly without Fabio present. For Bonehill part 1, this time, I recruited Fabio as a member. Perhaps having him in the party the first time affected him appearing for part 2 because I left him in one of the Restenford pubs.

I just added this option iin case others are having problems with the new areas updating for the last part of Bonehill. :cheers:

But Fabio SHOULD be there so the dialog can continue since he's the one that summons you from Candlekeep, unless you've managed to kill him off somewhere. If that's the case, Pelltar finds you at Candlekeep. In the second instance, if the dialog is hanging, then THAT is an issue that needs to be fixed.

Still an issue. Fabio showed up outside candlekeep, brings to Pelltar who has his conversation. (which quits after talking about second suspect) There is no Fabio there during conversation, and "bhfabio8" is not working for me. (creature does not exist).

I did add Fabio to the party just to check his stats in part 1 and left him in the same place in his tavern.

Ok, got it to work with "BHFABI10" or can use 6 and 8 to clua him in. Then it proceeds normally.

Just saw this thread as I had the same problem. The first time through Restenford, I had fabio in my party for a bit, then dumped him in town after he identified some equipment.

He showed up to get my in chapter 7, then Peltar started his speech, Fabio was still in Restendford so couldn't interject. Interestingly, when I went up to Fabio he said something like "Hey Peltar see I got them!", then would say no more.

I had to CLUA him in, then talk to peltar again, then he offered his interjections and I was able to go to Garroten. I used "bhfabio" since bhfabio8 didn't work. I didn't take him with me when he offered to join.

Fabio is not there if he was in the party earlier. Maybe just changing his parting dialog to move to that point in front of the Duke's instead of staying wherever. or just create creature in that area's BCS. The only way I could tell it wasn't working is like I said in a few posts above, that I knew he had to be there with Pellter to update worldmap and give the pieces of evidence. Otherwise it's up to CLUA and finding area codes =not fun.

I would say it needs to be fixed to have the scenario included if players used Fabio in the first part. Part of the quest in the beginning uses Fabio's dialogs and interjections with the bandits' note. I didn't use him in this runthrough to make sure that is the cause for him not showing later on. I did talk to him, so I hope that didn't mess it up either.

I guess i misunderstood your very first post here Hoppy ... i've always HAD Fabio in my party during the first Bonehill part and NEVER had issues later when talking to him again to start the 2nd part of the mod.

Anyway, i'm just in that part right now in my game. Get back here if i have issues ...

Did you kick him out when returning to Baldur's Gate? He will spawn fine after Candlekeep Catacombs. It is when you are talking to Pelltar after teleporting to Restenford that Fabio should also be there. That is the problem that some are having where the Worldmap or Globals don't update. When you talk to Pelltar, Fabio interjects in the dialog chain (not in party, just the area) and then Pelltar finishes the dialog and everything (WM, global, etc.) gets updated.

For me it only worked if I did not have Fabio in the party for Part 1. This is very confusing :wacko:

Strange indeed ... i know how the plot is going to continue and never had such problems.

Just checked in my game and everything is working smoothly. I DID HAVE Fabio in my party during ALL Bonehill first part and then, when he spawned in Candlekeep he teleports my party in Restenford, Pelltar appears and Fabio also is there replying to Pelltar's story without any issue.

Looking at your last Weidu log posted in the MegaMod forum, u have lot of mods i'm honest to say i've never installed. But most should not touch Bonehill in any way. The only guess i have comparing our games is that the issue with Worlmap and/or Variables not set "could" be due to one of this:

- BG2 Fixpack BETA Core Fixes
- SCS II
- Revised Travel Component of Worldmap

It's only a guess, i don't know how SCS II could change in any way Fabio (honestly i don't think so) or BG2 BETA Core Fixes, but they are Huge may be the problem could be with those. Also i never had the Revised Time component installed, but only the original.

In my humble opinion ... i don't know what could be happened there. Did u kick Fabio from your party just before going back to the Temple of Lathander? Or did u kick him before? Or he just "left" automatically when u leave the area to go back near Beregost? (he starts a dialog in that way). May be this last option could be the problem ....

@mm75- I think what erbusant said should be the likely course of events. I kicked him out so that may have broke his commands for later. Why others had the same problems with the quests and map updates could have been related or even a different cause. I should be good this time around. :doh:

Well, I finished the Candlekeep Catacombs, came out and Chapter 8 started. In Part 1 Fabio was in my party and left automatically before I transferred back to the Temple at Beregost. At Candlekeep, Fabio found the party, and used the scroll to transfer us to Restenford to meet with Pelltar. Then we went through all of the assassination and suspect dialogs with Fabio giving the correct interjections, and were given the quest to go to Garrotten and then Garrotten was revealed on the map just as it was supposed to be, so I travelled to Garrotten, and there I am now. So far everything works well.
