Hi all. I'm stuck at the Academy, not knowing how to kill the animated crossbows in the library in one of the towers. I can't target them directly with attacks or spells (there doesn't seem to be any way to click on them) and they're immune to area effect spells. Anyone know how to destroy them?

Also does anyone know how to get past the invisible doors on level 2? I'm talking of the doors on the right side of the area, which you get to by taking the elevator down from level 3. I found a key in one of the towers, but it doesn't open this door.

I think Selim Sivad (Miles Davis) has to be summoned from using those spells that you find in the Academy. There are a lot of tricky doors in that quest so I am not sure if that is what you are asking. Killing Selim opened up one of the big doors that couldn't be "dispelled".

Also, I remember that one of the doors you needed to have your familiar out of your backpack. Not sure which one.

the cheesy crossbows can wound themselves. go to the adventurer's mart and buy the shield of reflection. enter the crossbow library and only send forth the character wielding the shield. go afk for a cup of tea or coffee, return and laugh about the dead cheesers.

 to you, dude! I did what you said, including going to get the cup of tea. Worked like a charm. Thanks!

How do you summon her? I found Selim Sivad's spellbook on one of the levels but it doesn't contain any summoning spells. Oh, and the doors I'm referring to are the ones in AR3542 x: 2139 y: 1264.

memorize the spells and use one three times. Sometimes mages will already have them in their spellbook. I can't remember some but Cat's Grace, Force missiles (I think), ___'s frequent jaunt. They are learnable and Selim will come and ask for the spells. Deny after three summonings and she will be pissed.

Thanks for the tip on summoning Selim, Hoppy. Killing her didn't unlock the doors in AR3542 x: 2139 y: 1264 though, but it seems to have disabled the irritating staircase trap that randomly teleports people around.

If I remember, there was a door or two that couldn't open so I just used one of the Jaunt spells to hop over there and saw nothing of interest. I think you have done it all. Congrats!

i have a similar problem

I don't mind to kill those archers....i already took the key and i opened an invisible door at the lower plan.
But i can't go anywhere!I can go in the library, then up in the plan with the moon and stars on the floor and the plan with 6 rooms.
Stairs seem to be broken so i can't go down.....

Area number please...press x on keyboard with cheats enabled and it will tell you in the combat text box. Some doors are strange and will open on certain occasions (ie. alignment, class, inventory emptied)

Use a lot of scrolls, wands and the like for the harpies. They have amazing resistance to any kind of melee. Other weapons that do elemental damage may work as well but I use mostly magic attacks. Usually my harpies turn into iron golems and I have to use melee which isn't easy.
