Purely for historical and comparative purposes (and because I want to show Corvis), here are some of the original NPC Damage portraits made by Ana when we first conceived the mod. I'm certainly not trying to distract from khayman's efforts or anything. Good work, guys.

These are all 25% health. My personal favourite is Keldorn. Yeh, we noticed Haer'Dalis was purple. :)

Thanks for posting these, it`s interesting to see the differences.

You asked how come I didn`t choose to include Ana`s portraits; Ana rocks and I do like her work very much, however there are many reasons, the most important ones being:

1. Due to too much blood and such, the small versions of the portraits are (almost) unrecognizable when at less than 25% health, with the red tint on them and all.
2. I didn`t want to go overboard with the mutilations. :P
3. I know Ana`s busy with plenty of other things, including RL, so I didn`t want to bother her with these - she was very nice about it when we asked permission though and she did offer to help, but I thought I shouldn`t push her with this.
4. I wanted to make a mod already! Been involved with IE for too many years without really creating anything useful.
5. As you mentioned, consistency issues. The ones I made are quite different and that fact would have been glaringly obvious in-game as well.

By the way, you know, khay, i obviously didnt think of the small portrait... i agree that you'd see a mush of red in it below 25% health... ...HEEEH!

... I'm far more violent than u!!! ;)

Great work, guys, great work! Im very happy this mod came to be in the end!!! hooray! :D

You're pretty much out of luck.

You thought so? I thought they looked alright, but hey.

2. I didn`t want to go overboard with the mutilations. :P

I always kind of thought the overboardness was part of the charm. It's fun in the same way as watching the 300 is fun. I'm not sure anybody's going to take this mod that seriously. :)

3. I know Ana`s busy with plenty of other things, including RL, so I didn`t want to bother her with these - she was very nice about it when we asked permission though and she did offer to help, but I thought I shouldn`t push her with this.

Well, Ana, if you ever feel the urge to bloody up some more NPCs...!

4. I wanted to make a mod already!

Heh, yes, I definitely hear you here, and I'll say "good work!" again. NPC Damage was very much my Duke Nukem Forever.

5. As you mentioned, consistency issues. The ones I made are quite different and that fact would have been glaringly obvious in-game as well.

I think both sets are excellent edits. If Ana ever finishes hers I'd be very interested to see them as alternatives.

Thanks for the kind words, Sim. :)

You`re most likely right about most folks taking this mod seriously, I mean I probably wouldn`t even install it myself, but I`m sure there are people interested in it.

I don't know about that. Kulyok has already given the go-ahead for Xan and Tiax, I've already sent in a pic for an upcoming mod and promised to send Gavin's pic if it ever expands to BG1 or when Gavin for BG2 nears completion, and by JC's own words, Kelsey and Keto are fair game. I could easily see other modders electing to participate.

Urk... not for the faint-hearted, indeed.

The artwork is terrific but Minsc is like a drinking buddy and I love all the girls who've been mutilated. I fear they may look like this after I've mismanaged them through some battles but I'd rather not see them like that. It would make me feel guilty. I'll see them after they've cast a few healing spells. I'm a sissy.
I did battle with monsters, and they became me, and when I gazed into the abyss, the abyss looked away shyly.
See, it helps not to believe all the stuff that philosophers spout.

These are pretty interesting. Will this work properly with Baldur's Gate Trilogy, or will only some of the Joinable NPCs suffer have this update?

The NPC Damage mod (which doesn't include the portraits in this thread) currently only works with the Bioware NPCs from BGII.
