I'm planning a very small group. It's going to be a Dwarf F/T (I played him through BGI so his stats are abnormally high), along with Kelsey (I love that mod) and either Anomen or Jaheira as my healer and tank (along with the protagonist, obviously).

Which is a better fit? Which is a better character and why?

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

Hah! Depends. On many things, among other on what kind of mods are you using. If you use one that allows multi-classed non-human warriors to achieve great proficiency in chosen weapon, then Jaheira. If you don't, then Anomen. Plus, Jahi as a druid has some nice summonning/offensive spells. Ano as a cleric is rather buffs/healing spells, though he gains access to some nice spells on epic levels, I suppose. Other than that it is all personal preference, really.

Well, as a Tank/Healer without a doubt Anomen is better... that is if you don't want to hit back. This is cause Anomens AC is far better with a shield, once you'll use the gauntlets of dex to get the AC better. Cleric is better healer than half-druid, and he can cast even better protection-buff-spells.

But this is only at the high levels as Jaheira can cast the Call Woodland Being spell, the single most powerful spell in the 4th level- for a big party. As the creature can cast 5th level mass-cure spell. ^_^ And it can cast Confuse, Domination etc. disabling spells.

And Jaheira can cast a little better disabling spells herself, like the Insect spells, to interrupt enemy casters, plus she can raise dead with Harper's call, unlike other druids. And she should have better area damage spells too than Anomen, and be better fighter later when the AC isn't an issue anymore as the creatures will hit you no matter what-unless you have Iron Skins or Stoneskin, and she has better Thac0.

But do you have the, druids-level-at-the-same-experience-caps-as-clerics mod component(G3BG2tweakpack), as the druid xp table is kinda odd, if not, just forget what I said. As the 14th level druids needs double Xp's(+1.5MXp) to level up, which kinda kills the progression for a whole while.

So, just purelly Tank/Healer, Anomen is the best choice, but Jaheira comes some nice trinkets of her own...so be  , and choose.

You forgot the best cleric in the game, IMHO, Viconia. Given the choice I would pick her over your two choices.

He wants a tank and a healer in one though, which is a role I dont think Viconia can fill. She is a very good cleric, and can even survive on the front lines with the right equipment but I dont think she can tank though. Unless you use Level 1 NPCs and make her a Fighter/Cleric? *shrug*

My opinion is that Anomen is best (for the moment) I used to go with Jahera, untill one of the mods that I installed capped her armor at studded leather. However, this is where the NPC that I am working on comes into play. Sherman, a Half Orc Ftr/Cleric. (Incase you did not notice, his name is the name of a Tank (yes the pun was intended))

For a pure healer you honestly cannot beat Aerie with the Robe of Vecna.

However out of the two mentioned...
Well Jaheira, IIRC gets Mass Resurrection sooner, which does some very nice healing. She also gets Ironskins, which works like Stoneskin, so rather helpful on a tank. Elemental transformations can be very helpful as well.

Anomen gets some nice cleric spells designed to enhance his combat abilities, Draw Upon Holy Might, Righteous Magic, etc. He can also get 5* proficiency, something an unmodded Jaheira can't.

Still as a character I like Jaheira better, no surprise there, so I cast a vote for her. (Not to mention the Insect Plague of hers or Holy Smight of Ano's since this was a tank/healer discussion.

I prefer druids. I'd say that between the two, 'Heira's the way to go.

...Althought personally, I usually have Cernd as my party healer...

Anomen, hands down. Exploding vampires, anyone?

See the problem with the question for me is I usually have both. And another cleric, usually Aerie. I keep 2 clerics, 2-3 mages, a rogue, a druid, and any fighters that fit in there. Sometime substitute a bard for the third mage.

Whoa, that's almost how I make my parties, only difference being I've always been satisfied with just two priests (one usually being a druid). And here I thought I had the strict party formula :P .

But, yeah, I would have definitely said Jaheira thanks to her much better (natural) dex and some of the druid's more useful spells (ironskins, insect spells, etc.), but Berelinde brought up a really good point about Turn Undead. In the end, I'd probably still pick Jaheira as I prefer her character-wise.

I can't stand Anomen but so far he's made it into my party for just about every single Good Party run.
Stat wise he is better, HP-wise he is a better tanker.

Druid abils aside his spells are generally pretty good. Anomen, unlike Jaheira, can actually HIT things (in SoA, at least). Jaheira levels up waay to slowly in terms of thac0 improvement.

If not for Ironskins, Anomen is the better tank hands down (with Gloves of Dex), much as I hate him. And if you're one for casting Healing spells, Anomen has the edge as well in terms of Cleric healing spell selection.

That being said, I almost never use healing spells. They take so god awfully LONG! Maybe the level 6 Heal spell... in extreme circumstances or when my Fighter is so low on health and his hitpoints are so high that potions don't make much of a difference.

Oh, I love his turn undead :)

Even though they are not my favorites, I prefer Jaheira over Anomen. Better fighting abilities and her druid spells are a bonus. Some of her spells are a bonus against mages like the summoning insects spells.

I'd have to go with Jaheira. I almost never use healing spells, Anomen drives me nuts, and the insect spells can be incredibly useful, especially if you're dealing with lots of smart mages. Popping undead is well and good, but other than vampires and wraiths they're mostly harmless. Mages are always a pain.
