I know I have a fairly uneducated POV here, but the Sentinel seems like the least powerful of the Jedi classes. It looks to me like it's a mix of the Guardian and the Consular, but just not as good as either of them.

Am I off-base here at all?

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

It's not quite as good in combat as a Guardian, not quite as good with force powers as a Consular. But it's better with force powers than a Guardian, better in combat than a Consular. And the immunities to Stun etc. are valuable. More skill points is also good. I'll admit I don't usually use one, but that's down to my character concept more than anything. In some ways I think it's easier, since there's little you can't do, and in others it's harder, since you're not a powerhouse at anything.

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

Maybe it's because I'm thinking in linear terms:

Scout>Sentinel
Soldier>Guardian
Scoundrel>Consular

I guess the inherent high saves of the Scout class, which don't matter when you're immune to a lot of things, turned me off as well. If I went Sodier or Scoundrel>Sentinel, it might be a different story.

As I've said numerous times before, the Sentinel class is in my opinion overall better than the Guardian. The immunity feats are certainly much more valuable than the jumping ones, and the force and skill points definitely make up for (and is more useful than) the extra vitality points the Guardian gets.

I'd say that the Sentinel is KotOR's version of a multi-classed Figher/Mage. No, he's not going to be as good in lightsaber combat as the Guardian or as skilled with force powers as the Consular, but if he's developed properly, he's definitely going to be able to beat either of the two classes in a fight.

A Scoundrel->Sentinel is a kick-ass combination. The Scoundrel's extra AC, Stealth abilities and Critical Strike combined with the most versatile Jedi class. Yum.

I like the Scout/Sentinel combo, myself. I like the skill points, and there are lots of handy free feats. Better attack bonus than the scoundrel, better force powers than the guardian without going overboard like the consular (I never end up using half the powers I get as a consular, unless I'm dark side), and an altogether versatile character.

The Jedi Guardian gains the same amount and power, of force powers as Jedi Sentinel, who only gains more the force points(2 point's per level).

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

I think that Tempest meant that as a Sentinel, you can use more force powers because of the extra force points, not that you get more force powers.

Awesome. Can I pick your brain on how you ended up building this character for yourself? What skills & feats did you concentrate on? When did you stop levelling as a Scoundrel? What NPCs did you primarily use? Stats?

From what I remember, the Sentinel was the worst Jedi class available in KotOR I and a great class in the sequel (Especially with the greater number of Skill points).

Well, I've read in a million places that skills aren't that important because NPCs can do them for you. But I find it very annoying to have to switch out NPCs for their skills, which is partly why I settled on Sentinel.

I started with a 14 INT, and have maxed out Demolitions, Computer Use, and Repair as a Scout. When I became a Sentinel, there weren't quite enough skill points to go around (especially when adding Persuasion to the list), but I'm bumping them all up about as evenly as I can (while truly maximizing Persuasion now).

I like having all the skills I think are actually needed for my main character.

The only other skill I wish I could use is Stealth, although I've read it isn't that useful in this game. I've decided on using Juhani as my main warrior, and she's got a decent Stealth score as it is. I'll keep maximizing that skill for her for any of the scouting I really need done in this game. Carth rounds out my main team as a ranged warrior. Of course, I plan on using the other NPCs whenever it seems necessary (I've used Bastila for her Mom's quest, Mission with her brother, HK-47 for the Sandpeople, and I plan on taking along Zaalbar for the Kashyyk planet. Any other "appropriate" NPCs will be used when I need to use them. I also use the other NPCs for a minute or two whenever I land in a spaceport, because quests seem to find me when I do that, and I have a feeling the trend will continue).

I seem to remember the Consular being "better" with more skills than the Sentinel in the original (Or at least better with more important skills), though. I think I went Scoundrel > Consular, but I can't be sure. Luckily in the sequel, I didn't need a single NPC for their skills. My party was built for specialisation, although I was still able to go Sentinel > Jedi Weapon Master
