When the PC version comes out I think we will have more Mod discussion as we have far more control over the IP. It is a major component to PC gaming and BW has been a big supporter in the past of talented Modders (we even hired some to work here).

We won't be releasing a kit as far as I know but if there is interest I'm sure we can figure out ways to support a modding community.

I would imagine mission creation would be tops for the skilled. I imagine after the experience of NWN we will see some quick reskins of the armor/weapons and then work our way up to seeing new levels and missions.

It will be very cool to see what people come up with.

It'll be very interesting if they do support modding; while they won't be releasing a toolset, it is possible to mod without one--just difficult. I for one would like to see a Tali or a Garrus romance! ;)

I think NPC mods, especially ones dealing with the standard characters, are going to be difficult given how every line of dialouge is voiced. Although it is probably possible to simply have the text appear on screen as subtitles, it may ruin the immersion of the game a little.

Although new item skins, more indepth missions and perhaps an uncharted world or two that's actually worth exploring could make it worth while to fork out for the PC version. Who knows...

I think new NPCs are impossible in any case, due to the limited slots on the NPC page (when you leave the ship). Adding new characters onto the Normandy might be more feasable, but as you say would still require a lot of effort!

Any news on the modding-side of ME PC? It's been out for a while now, so surely there's been some thoughts about it.

I have seen someone suggest it's possible to put in new characters, though they'd end up replacing the old ones - that's how it's been done with KotoR. And to respond to Dark-Mage, there have been KotoR mods that added dialogue but without voices it does spoil the effect somewhat.

New skins seem very likely to be the first things to appear, though I think new equipment is also pretty likely. Anything more will take a lot of time, but it should be possible to add new missions and perhaps new locations.

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.
