As the reason for having the Explore mod work on -all- areas is no longer operative - there is in fact no reason to believe the G3 Widescreen mod has any issue with displaying fog of war - and seeing as other versions out there of this mod work on just city areas, I am curious: Was it only done for City areas for reasons of practicality (as in, doing it for all areas was considered problematic from a programming perspective)? Or would pretty much anyone who wanted city areas explored probably want -all- areas explored if they could have it that way?

Hence this poll :)

P.S. Please don't automatically answer "Make it do either one!", as I am sure many of you are itching to do :P There is a reason I am asking it as an either-or question.

I voted the Explore Just (outside) City Areas, as there is a simple reason why- because the certain inside areas were made so that they were supposed to be hidden, and you can explore their bounders personally, but in some of the city areas, the walkable space has such limits that there is always few black spots.

Wouldnt use either (at least not until my second or third playtrough) but think that Explore City Areas is the once that makes the most sense to me.
Exploration is a part of the game for me, no matter what, but in very limited areas it can become a bit...unpractial I guess.

I went for "Explore City Areas", because it makes more sense to me, much for the reasons Jarno already stated. :)

I'm voting for 'Explore City Areas' on two grounds:
  • Gameplay: Makes it less annoying when searching navigating say, Sigil areas. (hefty part)
  • Roleplaying: The Nameless One has probably been through some of these areas many of times, and as witnessed in the intro, he does have *some* memory of areas, just not instantly available to him. I'd reckon after seeing some places (such as the Hive Area with the Monolith, it'd jog a memory of the area. That's my five cents (since Australia doesn't deal in 2 cents) :P

*nod* Very well. Seeing as the vote is currently 2 for "all", 6 for "just cities", and I was one of the two votes for "all" (just to get it started, heh), there seems to be a pretty strong consensus. I also concur with the reasoning given in the various posts arguing for making it just city areas.

Therefore, the next version of the Explore mod will work just for city areas. This will include all of the areas explored by the G3 mod -except- for the halls of the Silent King (as there is no reason to believe TNO had ever been there before, and it is quite possible to explore it fully manually - no unreachable areas).

For the time being, I strongly suggest uninstalling the Explore All Areas mod, as it has the potential to create bigger problems than it's worth right now.

A less problematic version will eventually be released. In the meantime, if you really need it, use the G3 version, it does the job in a different way which luckily doesn't cause the problem.
