Personally I'm getting it, I've pre-ordered the Collector's Edition (Yes, I have that much spare money) and am looking forward to playing it.
I'm not sure if it's going to be that great as a CRPG, but considering that I sometimes play shooters to relax, this might be good since it has some RPG elements at least. Then again it might be good too, I don't know.
So, how about you guys?

Yeah, I can agree about the PR mumbo-jumbo sure enough... I don't even pay attention to it anymore. I hardly even read any news about most games I buy these days, other than the release dates that is.Not getting it, for a number of reasons, until I see a review by someone I trust saying "this is a good game." A lot of what I've heard is the typical game-release publicity about how it's "fantastic" and the best thing since sliced bread, and everything else has been extremely negative.

I guess the bright side of buying games very seldomly (i.e. I only buy CRPGs) is that I have enough money to spend on games I'm not sure I even like.

Which reminds me, I really need to get some of that sliced bread... mmm, bread.

Well, Fallout 3 is out in a week's time, so I thought I'd ask around...

Seeing as I put myself a new computer together earlier this year, for the specific purpose of being able to play Fallout 3 on it, I am most definitely going to get it. In fact, I too have pre-ordered the Collector's Edition, and it's set to ship from Gamestop any time now. I really hope I get the Gamestop exclusive soundtrack CD and poster with it too, as I ordered early. It's only while supplies last, though.

"The righteous need not cower before the drumbeat of human progress. Though the song of yesterday fades into the challenge of tomorrow, God still watches and judges us. If they add a Construction Set for Fallout 3 it might become a worthy successor, given enough time... of course then it would be mostly modded and thus more user-made than anything else. Time will tell.Count me out. Oblivion was a fine game, but adding guns to it and making it post-apocalyptic does not make it a true heir to the series, unless reviews convince me otherwise.
I'd like the modding possibility for Fallout 3 though, I did modding work for Oblivion after all. I think I had more fun modding the game than playing it.

It got 90% in PC Gamer this week. The reviewer comments that "It's not Oblivion with guns". Though I'm not sure that it's really much like previous Fallout games, from the description.
Back from the brink.
Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

Some of the negatives are concerning. Can't say I'd be too impressed though if they deviated far too much from the previous duo, so much that the universe will suddenly be more than just a little different.
Hmm, maybe ol' Cassidy should not let go of that Rotgut just yet eh?

But still, I'd love to see what next would happen in Fallout, what with the Enclave and all those other loveable (ok, some hateable

And when I first left the Vault, I knew this was the real thing:

The fact that just that it was night when I exited the vault, and just reached that cliff after having explored in the other direction a bit before, as the sun rose, just added to the glory of the moment.

Oh, and the face creation tool is great, by the way. Here's a closer look at my character, Lelene:

I also think it's great fun. When you get out of the vault and set your steps in the wasteland...it's awesome. You can definately see the hand of Oblivion at work, but not in a negative way.
Reviews here were absolutely stunning. 9's and 10's mostly.

Bethesda hasn't yet revealed if they are going to release a Construction Set á la Oblivion for the game, which in my opinion only shows that they intend to cash in by selling the official DLCs to everyone since the modding capabilities of FO3 are limited for normal gamers/modders without a CS.
Overall I would say that the game was worth my money, but to make it good enough for more than one play-through it needs a CS and some talented modders. If you really like post-acocalyptic games, Fallout 3 is a good choice if you already have the prequels.
