I have finished the game now and enjoyed it though it is quite short - things move very quickly towards the end. I was rather pleased I did not see the main plot twist coming (something I missed in KotOR, as I'd already read about it and knew about the deal with Revan) and the story has some nice moments.
I have to admit I was a bit taken aback by the gore at first. Two Rivers is so pretty pretty, and then you get that totally over the top cannonball chunking scene on the beach... I did laugh a bit at the Black Whirlwind fight scenes and the golem press scene as well. I've watched a few Chinese movies like Lady Snowblood so I guess it's all in keeping with the genre, but it was a bit unexpected at first!
I romanced Sky as well, though with a male character. He has his tragic past but he seems to deal with it a bit better than Anomen or Carth. Of Bioware's male romances, he was probably the most appealing.

I've just finished Jade Empire and I found that I was bitterly disappointed that I'd finished it because it's the first game for a long time that I've really enjoyed. I liked it far more than Oblivion and its siblings, mainly because there was at least some party interaction. No, I never did complete any of the romances but I enjoyed it sufficiently for it to be put on my 'will play again' list.
Jade Golem form rulz..... big time. I had it maxed out and (spoiler)there is bugger all that can stop it. The end boss lasted less than thirty seconds. Like CalJones, I did not see the plot twist coming and it made me made mad enough to go flat out after the big boy. Yes, I'll definately be playing it again at some point.

Not quite necroposting but....

Glad you liked it, so did I

You should run through it again and pursue a romance, because although it's not BG2 material, it still adds something to the game.
Heck I finished the game 4 times.
Try the Red Minister next time instead of Jade Golem.

BTW I've read someone in this threat misspelling Silver Fox, typing Silver Ox instead. That made my day XD

"Male characters can also romance both Dawn Star and Silk Fox at the same time. If this is the case, the cutscene and dialog at the tent implies that Dawn Star and Silk Fox spent some time together in their grief and lead the player character off for a menage-a-trois."
I mean, seriously. Bioware of that desperate to get people to play this game? Lucky I will be playing female char. Although I do not like lesbian romance bit either.

There are lots of different epilogues too, depending on whether you romance him with a male or female, and whether you're closed fist or open palm, and also which ending you choose. So many variables.

I agree on that.Heh. You can also romance Sky (the male love interest) with a male or female PC. Irrespective of that, I rather liked Sky. He has the rather typical Bioware tragic background, but at least he doesn't spend the entire game whining about it.

That's called "Save time and make your game popular through controversy". You cannot deny that writing a bisexual character is much time-saving than writing two characters, one for female players and one for male players 9_9
BTW just tell Silk Fox you're not interested and that will be fine - or don't talk to her at all, since she's the most annoying character of the game imho (please, fans of Silk Fox don't kill me v_v)

Stop me if I'm wrong, but I think it's a stretch to equate a bisexual character with one that can romance both male and female characters. What I'm saying is that even if you have a bisexual character, that character wouldn't necessarily react the same way with a male or a female character. What Bioware did was take a shortcut and just use the same dialog with different pronouns (he/she). Not that I blame them, as writing the text for a romance can be time consuming, but still. That's called "Save time and make your game popular through controversy". *16 year old boys. And some who are older but still behave like 16 year old boys.
Having said that, when I played Jade Empire I romanced Sky with a male character. Mostly because I thought the guy with the dragon tattoo looked cool.
